“Good Food, Nice Selection of Beer, A Little Overpriced”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 20, 2014

The atmosphere is great and they have an awesome selection of beer, but the pizza we ordered was a little on the pricey side. It was good pizza, but not for the price paid. Overall a nice place to go on the east side of North Park.

“This is a great pizza place on a very cool street in Vista.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 10, 2014

The pizza is a thin-crust New York style pie cooked very quickly in a super hot oven. This is not a showplace with guys tossing dough into the air. This is artisan pizza cooked until crispy and served hot to your table. The pie is made by nice guys and the toppings are numerous. My judge of a real Brooklyn pie is is the carbon of the bottom and just the perfect crispness of crust. Toppings can mask your taste buds so I always pick a Margherita to make fair comparisons. This joint passes my test. Great tap beer selection, fine basic wines, and plenty of soft drinks to satisfy everyone. Superb fresh salads. Place can be crowded and noisy. Street parking.

“beer and pizza”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2014

Have you been to Basic in gaslamp area? Basically it offers the same style of pizza. As a matter of fact, it is owned by the same owner, Jon Mangini.

I like URBN a bit more only because it's easier to find parking than in downtown SD.

The food at URBN is good, but not great nor is it bad either. It's just okay.
we ordered:

Mashed Potato: White pie with mozzarella, bacon, parmesan. (this was quite popular with everyone, you get mashed potatoes and bacons it's like eating a breakfast potato on a pizza)

(B)URBN BBQ Chicken: Red pie with mozz, bacon, scallions, spicy bourbon BBQ sauce, parmesan. (i prefer this pizza, i like the spicy bourbon bbq sauce)

Gouda Garlic Alfredo: White pie, chicken, spinach, sundried tomato (this was well seasoned but i just wished it was on a pasta instead of a pizza crust).

Because the pizzas are super thin you can eat more than you would eat with normal pizza. I am not a big fan of their style of cutting the pizza. They are definitely not all equal sizes So when you share with a group, yup some people will get super big slices and you might get stuck with the awkward more crust than middle goodness slice.

Atmosphere is great for groups. It's very open, lots of space for big groups / parties. Definitely not a date place cuz it gets loud. For beer lovers, this place is great for you, you'll get to try some crafty beers.

while i enjoyed the company and the food, overall nothing about the pizza excited me. I do not crave for it. I prefer Pizzeria Luigi's over URBN (both with thin crusts comparison)

“As good as it gets, for Beer and Pizza”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 22, 2014 credit card Amex Card Member Review

Excellent rotating craft beer selection - lots on draft
Best coal fired pizza I've ever had, thin, crispy and chewy at the same time - awesome! Toppings are fresh and full of flavor.
Staff is friendly and they don't mind kids
It gets noisy (which is why we bring the kids) and after 9:00p or so its more like a night club, but its a fun place with interesting people
City street or paid lot parking, seating is good but goes fast

“Not all cracked up to be I think. OK but not great.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed January 7, 2014

We stopped by here looking for some good coal fired pizza rather than dripping with grease pizza. Upon entry it took a little bit for 3 staff to approach is to give us a table. We arrived 30 mins prior to kitchen not taking any orders. We were informed that because of this, the pizza will have to be brought to us in takeout boxes which I had no issue with. The place wasn't busy maybe because it was a Sunday evening. Who knows. I ordered the BBQ chicken and we had a margarita too. The pizzas were nice but a little expensive for what you're receiving I feel on this occasion. They obviously have the rent to pay for which at times factors into pricing to even survive as a business. The place is quite dark inside as if it was a wine bar I.e. Dimmed lighting. Anymore and you wouldn't be able to see what you are eating. Everything about this place from the take on Urban spelling to interior is cool but the food needs a little bit of work.
