“Pig Out ! ! !”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 4, 2013

A totally different dining experience. Order and pay out front through the window. Get a number and walk around back to the dining area. They brought us our food in about 10-15 minutes. You get your own water, napkins, utensils and salt and pepper. Our table ordered the pulled pork tacos (2 per order) , the pork wings (3 double sized pork ribs in a tasty sauce) , and snack shack burger with a tasty bacon jam and snack shack aioli. Portion sizes are very adequate. We also ordered the seasoned fries which were served with a bacon ketchup. This was tasty but a bit too salty. I ordered the pork three ways sandwich. It has pork schnitzel, pulled pork and bacon inside a large hamburger bun. I tasted all the food and my sandwich was the best by far! This "restaurant" somewhat reminds me of ordering from a food truck...in a fun and different (but good way). If you have some extra time in San Diego, try Carnitas' Snack Shack. Lastly, it is extremely dog friendly.

“Oh do I miss San Diego”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 6, 2013

Drove through San Diego coming back from a business trip and met a buddy of mine at this place. I had the ribs with cherry tomato and cucumber salad ($9.00) and a side of fries ($2.50). Granted this time of year the flies were a pain but that is not this place's fault. The amount of food I got for $9 dollars was a good deal, 7 ribs and about 1 1/2 cups of salad. Ribs were good but not the best I have had, relied on the sauce for flavor and there was too much for me, the salad was delicious, and the fries were tasty. The side patio was nice and seating was easy to get but needed a few more umbrellas although we are in "Sun Diego". Overall I enjoyed this place and will be back.

“hands down best carnitas ever-5 is based on carnitas tacos”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

best carnitas tacos and carnitas in general i have ever had!

we came during off tourist season and got lucky with a 15 min line.

the triple pork sandwich was very tasty, the pork belly was great flavor but a little tough so not the best.
oh and fries are super tasty too!!!

great place for craft beers- get the tacos!!! the carnitas fries are amazing too!!!

so for tourists and newbies alike in case you dont already know:
- its a literally shack you wait in line outside on sidewalk, get up to window and order,
-walk around back and seat yourself and get you own water and silverware and napkins
-they bring food-it does take a while- if line is long it can take over 45 min to get your food!! just a heads up

is it worth it you ask? if you are a local- go suring slower times(weekday, not summer, off dinner times, etc) if you are visting, its special so i would wait an hour for those tacos- but i would make sure i had a drink to hold me over lol

everything is about 8-12 bucks

“Rated one of San Diego's best, and it is”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2013

Oh boy, is this place good. First of all, don't be put off by the inevitable line. Be patient, it's worth it. I had the signature Triple Threat sandwich, fried pork loin, carnitas (pulled pork) and BACON! Oh, greasy deliciousness. You'll need a fork to scoop up the stuff that falls out of the sandwich, you won't want to miss a bite. Get a side of yummy seasoned fries served with BACON (!) ketchup. Yes, I do love bacon...

They serve beer and wine here, but I would suggest getting a Coke. The coke is made in Mexico so it is made with real sugar, no high fructose corn syrup and it's in a real glass bottle. It tastes nothing like the nasty stuff available here in the states.

There is a courtyard in the back with seating and a small bar, too. The service here is friendly, the atmosphere laid back.

Recommended.

“Worth the wait”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 15, 2013

I had read great things about this place and were not disappointed. It's on a busy road, not really near other restaurants but is worth the trip.

Upon arriving there we saw a queue of people stretched down the side walk and it took about 20 minutes to get to the little window to order. It was worth the wait though! After ordering at the window you go through to the garden at the back to eat and the food came out quickly.

Absolutely delicious.
