“Good food and fun in the Hillcrest neighborhood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 20, 2012

We had a great Sunday lunch at The Range which is mostly a twenty-something hangout with big TV screens carrying the football/soccer/tennis games of the moment. The menu is very original for what is essentially a burger and sandwich place. The burgers are huge and well prepared with some great extras. Our party had the brussels sprouts and fried chickpea appetizers (yeah, really) and they were as good as they were unusual. The burgers come with sweet potato fries or salad. Both are outstanding.
Lots of beers to choose from and an okay wine list also. This is a party palace, so go with the acceptance that it will be a bit raucous and noisy, but it's all part of the fun. Say hello to the savvy and sassy bartender Jessica who has an encyclopedic knowledge of the beers on offer.

“Superb service & interesting food at reasonable prices”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 2, 2012 via mobile

This place has incredible service! Great food that is really interesting. Nice selection of local craft beers in tap. Spicy bloody Mary with a kick at brunch! Organic chicken. Roll-up doors do you can enjoy the warm days but still be out of the sun. Patio out front if you'd prefer people watching over watching the game.

“Great new Hillcrest bar / restaurant!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 4, 2011

We live a block from this location and were excited for the possibilities when it was being remodeled. We have not been disappointed!

Happy Hour / Dinner: We love their Happy Hour deals on beer and appetizers. They have a pretty good selection of both craft and domestic beer on tap. Their Caprese Tostini appetizers are amazing. Their blue cheese / potato chip nachos are an interesting and tasty twist on traditional nachos. My favorite thing to order is THE RANGE burger - burger, topped with brisket, and a fried egg!

Brunch: My biscuits and gravy were pretty standard but my wife's potato chip chicken and waffles were OUTSTANDING! Also, to stick with the country theme, their mimosas are served in mason jars mounted on candle sticks.

Service: We seem to always have the same servers each time we go, but that's fine with us as they are always top notch.

Tourists: Venture outside of Gaslamp and experience the real San Diego!
