“Nice place to stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 4, 2014

A nice hostel to stay at, especially if you're visiting in order to enjoy San Fransisco's night life. Clean place, mainly young people staying and helpful staff. Wouldn't recommend it for travelers not intending to do out and party cause, 1) noisy area and even more noisy if you have a room overlooking 5th Avenue, and 2) 9 out of 10 people staying there don't intend to be back before 2-3am.

Nice location in a cool building, friendly staff... however, the hostel has too few bathrooms and they chose to clean them at times when most backpackers would be taking their showers, creating long lines...

Everything you would expect from a hostel with good feng shui. :) iPads for internet access is a nice touch. Don't miss the entrance as your walking down the block. It's sandwiched between two restaurants with outside seating.

Even though we are locals, my friends and I chose this place because it was cheap and looked fun...we couldn't have made a better decision! The people who stay are of course, foreigners, and they are so down to earth! Needless to say, we made some great friends in just one night. The staff, especially Mark, is also super friendly. I would definitely come back!

Room Tip: The rooms are very tiny, and the fact that the lockers use a lock makes it very easy to wake up when...

This hostel is all about safety, central convenience & an inexpensive bed. Rooms are small, dark, cramped, but beds are comfy, restrooms clean, kitchen useful. Friendly staff! Close to bus routes, Enterprise car rental, grocery store.

Room Tip: If you are claustrophobic, ask if your room has a window.

The San Diego Hostel is a great place!
The valie-for-money is good and the location is pretty good in central San Diego.
The Staff is really friendly and they are more than happy to give you advice what to do.
A guy working in the reception, Mark, was really helpfull. We had unfortunately locked our keys inside our car and he helped us by letting us borrow his phone so we could get a locksmith and move on.
The central location has a downside to it though, there is some noise from the streets, but this has been taking into consideration, earplugs are handed out, simple and effective solution.

I thought the staff were thoughtful considerate helpful and the free breakfast was great... the cozy open-air feel of the joint was extra exotic... I will very likely stay again with usa Hostels sometime soon!
