“Go For The Lofts - Great for Night Owls”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

I've stayed here several times and The Lofts are my preferred place to stay when I stay over the weekend in SD. The Lofts overlook 5th Avenue and the craziness that can ensue outside there.

The large loft (the one with the Whirlpool Tub) is perfect for couples or for base of operations for a night on the Gaslamp. Huge vaulted ceilings, huge bathroom, and large picture windows offer great people watching out on the strip.

The standard loft is perfectly fine and spacious.

The grand loft, or whatever they call it, sits at the end of the lofts and faces the Convention Center. It has a large dining/meeting room, living room, guest bathroom, and master bedroom with bathroom. The living room has a gigantic window that offers a full view of the entire Convention Center. I bet this is the money room for ComiCon!

Room Tip: Go for the Lofts side.

Fantastic property located in the gas lamp area, great place for business, food , entertainment, etc... The valet charges are way out of customary charges as is the breakfast buffet price. Rooms were very nice as was all the staff overall - The HUGH issue was the trains as this property is located right next to the track and there is a street crossing. This crossing has a very loud bell that can be heard for miles and goes off every 15-30 minutes as trains and rails pass by! I was up most of both nights I stayed here. Unfortunately I will look else where in he future due to the trains

Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to post a review of the hotel. Our dynamic location in the Gaslamp district along with several other hotels in the area are adjacent to local transportation hubs and I'm sorry the train crossing bell kept you awake. The city of San Diego has completed a "quiet zone" act which has eliminated the need for the trains to sound their horns. This has made a dramatic improvement to our area with only the crossing bell sounding.
Thank you again for your review along with the kind comments on our staff and nice rooms. We hope to have the opportunity to serve you again.

Stayed 6 nights while at tradeshow at convention center. Friendly, helpful staff and very close to many good restaurants.

Adjacent train tracks make it a bit noisy but i would definitely stay there again.

My boyfriend and I chose your hotel to stay at to celebrate my birthday, our two year anniversary, as well as an early Valentine's celebration.

Before arriving I had called ahead and asked for wine glasses and a wine opener to be in our room upon arrival, your staff without hesitation was accommodating and fulfilled on the request. Our stay I must say was beyond accommodating, your staff member, Jordan especially, was an impeccable example of superb customer service. He always greeted us upon leaving and returning back to the hotel. He recommended local restaurants and bars. He went beyond making recommendations to even provide us with a map, his personal book to borrow for one of our day outings, as well as giving us a small history lesson on the Gaslamp District. Jordan also went ahead and booked dining reservations for the celebration of my boyfriend and my anniversary and birthday; preparing with the manager of the restaurant to provide us with complimentary champagne and dessert at Greystone Steakhouse.

I have never had such an amazing experience at a hotel and cannot be more appreciative of your staff member, Jordan, in making our stay unforgettable. We thank you so much and cannot wait to return to the Gaslamp and stay at your hotel again!

The room was a nice standard Hilton unit, tasteful, comfortable and fairly clean. A small well equipped gym and very small urban pool seem adequate for the hotel's relatively small size, but don't expect to swim any laps or find anywhere to suntan on a nice day. The lobby is an above average hip, metro loungy sort of meeting place with an airy parkside setting adjacent the convention center. The place feels safe within it's confines, but beyond the front entry things feel a little dodgy. Didn't feel right walking at night, lots of shady characters roam nearby and the nearest convenience is a dirty old liquor store directly across the street. There is one main reason I won't be back; they tell you there are other parking options without in & out privileges in the surrounding blocks, but one look around and you won't hesitate to allow them to hold your vehicle hostage for $42 a night. Enough said.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on a high floor facing the residential condo complex. Street noise out back and frequ...

Thank you for staying with us and taking the time to post a review of the hotel. We appreciate this feedback as it allows us to improve our services as we share all reviews with our staff. Our dynamic location in the Gaslamp district is adjacent to several area downtown attractions including Petco Park home of the Padre's baseball club and local parks.
Regarding the parking, our parking costs include the Valet service, as well as unlimited 'In and Out' meaning you can take your car whenever you want without additional fees. Your car will always remain secure and accessible in our covered parking. There certainly are less expensive options in the area, but they won't necessarily come with the security and convenience with 24 hour access to your vehicle. Thank you again for your feedback and we look forward to future opportunities to serve you to your complete satisfaction.

Nice clean rooms with fast Internet service. Comfortable beds and nice, big desk to work at with plenty of plugs available for charging multiple devices. Close to convention center and lots of excellent restaurants. But, daily valet parking is ridiculous at $40, and there are no alternatives available.

Hotel is extremely convenient to the convention center ... Bar and restaurant are so so but the rooms are fine and the beds are super comfy. Lots of restaurants nearby. A little noisy because of its proximity to the Coaster and metro tracks but tolerable in the room.
