“A great place to chill out”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed 3 days ago NEW

Because we have family in Rancho Bernardo, we decided to stay here rather than downtown SD for a weekend. Our room was consistent with other Courtyard hotels. We enjoyed strolling through a small, picturesque park adjacent to the hotel. Nearby are shopping plazas with both family owned and operated restaurants and franchises.

RB is home to lots of retirees, so is much quieter than downtown SD or the beach towns. They are about 20 minutes from here when there isn't traffic. We

Easy to find near the San Diego Safari Zoo and the San Diego Zoo, this was a great home base for a Safari wedding for our great niece and her betrothed. The hotel gave us a deep group discount. The staff seemed eager to please and were very helpful. Food and spirits were crazy over-priced, but heck! it was convenient. Starbucks, a bar and a grill made it easy to meet with kin and kith any time of day, except for the speed dating evening. Only complaints were that the king-sized bed was too high and soft to the point of uncomfortable for a light sleeper like me, and the corners of the foam rubber pillows poked us in the eyes. Since no tse-tse flies bugged us and no Bengal tiger drug us out of bed by our toes, i'll call it an overall win.

Room Tip: Bring your own pillows.

Green Features: Thumbs up. The toilet had a flush for yellow and different flush button fo brown: Laudable! They want to save money and water washing towels. Good ideas, we're in California, but not righteously progressive in comparison to many and our super-serious drought. Yet, better than many!.

Husband and stayed here for the weekend. Hotel was nice and clean. Wifi was weak at times and breakfast you need to pay for. Our room faced the FRWY and if it was not for the AC it would have been annoying. Downtown San Diego is 30+ driving and the same driving time to La Jolla. The room does have fridge and mini microwave. The price was good but you did have to drive to any sights.

Room Tip: Ask for a quiet room.

Green Features: They did have fruit infused water for free. But 2 different times the water was empty

The Rancho Bernardo Courtyard is a good choice for an affordable place to stay in the Rancho Bernardo area. The property is adjacent to Webb Lake Park, whose amenities include a duck pond with geese, turtles, lots of shade trees and a walking path. The Courtyard seems to be part of the park. At the Hotel itself, you’ll find a great outdoor pool and spa tub. There is no supervision at the pool. While we were there we often found visiting families with small children and young people engaged in games of chicken fighting and Marco Polo - all with varying degrees of respectfulness.

The property is partially updated and quite comfortable. The rooms check all the boxes - California-appropriate water pressure, still just fine; in-room coffee maker, microwave, min-fridge, flat screen TV, Wi-fi, adequate lighting, etc. There’s plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby. They’re in walking distance.

The staff is friendly and accommodating - whatever I asked for was no problem for them, including a room on the park-side of the building. These are popular and people who know ask for them a lot. My sense is this amenity is not always available.

We visit the area often spending time with family, and this Courtyard has become our favorite.

Everything a courtyard is supposed to be. Service was above par (great restaurant recommendations.) Rooms are nice and everything fully functional. Location is convenient to highway and local food/golf.

Would stay again.

Pros:
Very clean room with good firm mattress.
Nice HD flat screen TV with many channels to chose from.
Nice size mini fridge.
Large and clean bathroom.
The staff was friendly and accommodating.
It has a coin operated laundry which was desperately needed.
Cons:
Some Freeway noise, but not too loud.
There's a Bistro, but the menu is limited . I would prefer a free breakfast bar.

Hotel was acceptable however they did not honor guaranteed breakfast available to the elite members. I am trying to decide between Marriott and Hilton loyalty programs. This experience is definitely moving me towards hilton. Courtyard does not come close to their counterpart Hampton inn.

Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your resent stay with us. I am happy to hear that you found our hotel acceptable and please accept my apology for any misunderstanding about our rewards programs benefits. Free Continental Breakfast is included for our gold and platinum members at these properties - JW Marriott, Autograph Collection, Renaissance Hotels, and Marriott Hotels. At the Courtyard by Marriott our Bistro is a "fast casual" F&B concept being implemented in response to overwhelming guest research that indicates the need for more choices, freshness and additional healthy options. The concept is focused on providing fresh food and great taste with the choice to grab-and-go, grab-and-sit or order and be served. Thank you again for staying with us and we hope to have you back again soon.
