“Friendly and relaxing hotel”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

I recently spent 2 weeks at the Rancho Bernardo Inn, so I think that I have a good pulse on the hotel. It is perhaps the most friendly and welcoming hotel that I have been to in a long while. The rooms are in a number of 2 story buildings situated around the beautiful gardens and grounds.
Just a note that this is an older property, but it is well kept up and the rooms are clean and inviting. Most, if not all, have a balcony or a patio. Refrigerators and coffee in every room, and they even supply bottled water free of charge. Wifi is free in the lobby area, but there is a small charge in the rooms. The rooms were very quiet, even on a busy weekend with four weddings taking place. There are 2 restaurants, as well as a cafe on the property.
There is a family pool, and in another area is a separate adult pool, which makes it very nice for adults who want a quiet place to relax. The hotel also has a very good fitness center.
The spa is lovely and provides all types of spa services. It also has a separate pool with cabanas and lunch service. Very, very relaxing.
I cannot say enough about the staff of the hotel. The always had a smile and a friendly word, and willing to assist guests a a moment's notice.
Rancho Bernardo Inn is a great place to hold a meeting or convention, with adequate meeting space and a terrific sales and convention services and banquet staff.
I certainly will be back for another visit....

Love love love this resort. Last visit was in April 2013. We rented one of the villas along with 7 other rooms. The staff was very accommodating and went out of their way to make sure we were happy! :0) We were very happy the golfers did not mind the women yelling at them in their backswing.

Enjoyed a two night stay in June at this beautiful property. The room was luxurious and the staff was excellent and had many amenities (mini frig, hair dryer, botted water, coffee maker). Didn' get to stay long enough to use the spa faciities or golf due to other plans in the area but will do so next time. Our room was in the "Gardens" section and the beds were extremely comfortable. The restaurant on sight was good, an a new one is coming according to postings at the Inn. This would be a lovely place for a wedding too. The valet staff were very friendly and helpful.

Unless you know where this place is, just leave it to your driver to get you there. I only had one issue while here but did not complain to the staff about it. It was the accumulation of dust on the cushioned headboard and the room took about two days to begin getting rid of the closed up/musty smell.

However, the food is fabulous! Don't cheat yourself by going out to some unknown, this place is tops in their many cuisines. Take advantage of the gathering spots outside if their restaurant. You could meet folks vacationing just like you. This is a very peaceful place and a great escape. Golfing here is good also.

Room Tip: Stay away from bottom floors. Ours was 215, I think.

My wife surprised me with an room at the Rancho Bernardo Inn for Father's Day. She booked us a room in the "Fountains" section, and I could not have been more impressed with the tranquil relaxing atmosphere. We ordered room service and were both pleased with the quality of the food and how reasonably priced it was. Later that night we took a walk around the grounds to get some fresh air. RBI is an amazing property and the stroll through landscape was a perfect way to end the night.

Room Tip: The rooms in the Fountain section are immaculate, and the sound of the flowing water at night is tre...

The hotel is located in a residental area, and you come upon it quietly. Valets are waiting to attend to you immediately and whisk you into the quiet foyer. There is a huge fireplace and well placed seating all around the foyer. Checkin was a breeze and you are off to your room. I had requested a quiet location with a beautiful view. Our room was huge with double queen beds, and a large patio door shuttered with plantation blinds. Upon opening the shutters there was a beautiful stone fountain bubbling quietly. The bathroom was clean and fresh with thick fluffy towels. Dining was wonderful on the Veranda with fireplaces going, a musician playing 60 rock music and everyone having a lovely time. The staff was marvelous, and attentive, and a small request on the menue was met without any objection and to perfection. Vicky our serve was a delight, she adjusted the heater when the weather started to cool without a suggestion from us.
We stolled the grounds after dinner and enjoyed sitting outside on the patio between the main building and the guest rooms. There are ramps for reaching rooms on second and third floors and there is also an elevator for the disabled. This is a wonderful "Estate" to visit, relax and have a wonderful time. The Spa pool is in a Dream setting..

Room Tip: Rooms in the fountain area on the first floor are nice and located near the parking area. We did no...
