“Good Stay”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2013 via mobile

The resort has excellent staff, nice rooms and beautiful grounds. However, the value for the price paid does not seem that great to me. I stated on business so cost was not an issue but there are equally nice places closer to downtown that offer better value in my opinion. Especially if you don't require a "resort" feel.

This place is beautiful place. The rooms are nice and spacious, there are many scenic views just walking around the resort. I would have loved to give them a 5 rating, but it was the little things that kept me from doing so - I forgot my toothpaste and hairspray, and their shop didn't have these simple things. I was also disappointed that my beautiful room fell short only in the fact that they cheaped out in the shower with cheap tiles and fixtures. We also had a remote control that hardly changed the channels, and a power outlet which did not work, so my phone died in the middle of the night and I woke up late for my meeting.

I had visited this resort previously for company events. This visit was for our 20th wedding anniversary. The resort is a lovely setting with southwest decor -- very tasteful. The rooms are large and updated in decor. Even the garden rooms are peaceful and lovely views. The food was very good -- we had dinner and breakfast several times. All staff was so well trained, friendly and attentive. A real plus for the resort and raises it to an even higher level. It is peaceful, quiet yet has a nice energy about it. The golf course was great fun to play and it was a four hour round. The concierge, Holly, was quite attentive and efficient. Again, emphasizing the customer service desire throughout the resort. We highly recommend it.

Took a weekend trip for a family wedding at this hotel. The property is a little dated, but overall it was great. Did not play golf, but the course looked very good. The wedding was beautiful, great setting, atmosphere, banquet rooms and service staff. The Veranda breakfast buffet was average. Maybe we should have order from menu. It is however Southern California, so the weather and views are worth it.

Room Tip: Stayed in single story room up front. It was very quiet. Being close to the entrance is not a proble...

A very lovely Mission style resort in the middle of a comfortable residential area. Very nice golf course, excellent food and great service. Would like to see a stronger commitment to being "green" and would like to see more vegetarian food options but everything was of top quality and great service.

Room Tip: some rooms are on the second or third floor without an elevator

Terrific getaway place with nice, big, clean, well-maitained rooms, some with a full view of a beautiful golf course. The Spa is full service, the golf course excellent, well-maintained and challenging. It is a very pretty property, with gorgeous common areas and a pleasant staff. But then there is the food. It was, in a word, awful. A boring, ill-conceived and poorly-executed menu. The two females in charge of seating you were two of the rudest, laziest staff I have ever seen. The patio dining area is gorgeous, but they also take reservations for non-guests, which they do not tell you as a guest. And, ridiculously, they hold these reservations for half an hour, to the exclusion of hotel guests. So if you show up to check in and/or play golf, you can pretty much forget about having lunch even though two thirds of the tables are empty. The top-end restaurant was undergoing a transformation when we were there, so mabye it will improve. They tell me they are bringing in a REAL chef, which the property desperately needs. As for really fine dining, go offsight a mile or so to Bernardo's for outstanding French.

Room Tip: Ask for a room in the "Greens" building for a golf course view.

We stayed here for a wedding that was held on the grounds. The grounds and rooms are very nice, the amenities (spa, bar, restaurants) are great, and the customer service is stellar! We had a couple of issues (violent argument in the room next to us, and some renovations that started a tad early) that they took care of immediately. I would definitely recommend!
