My husband and I just took the tour of Downtown and Little Italy and it was such fun! We are locals and have lived in San Diego for over 40 years but didn't know so many of the historical facts that we learned from Eddie, our guide, on the tour. Eddie was entertaining and knowledgeable about the city and the restaurants. And the food was really special. We started at Royal India which was great because it was noon and I was hungry and they had a buffet for us to belly up to and enjoy. Then it was off to Venissimo which is "all things cheese" and the tastes we had there were a delicious bite of what appears to be a dairy wonderland of cheeses. Our next stop was Berkeley Pizza and we had another filling and delicious sample of their deep dish, thin crusted pizzas. That and a couple of craft beers and we were ready to walk over to Karl Strauss for more samples of the bubbly brew. Our last stop was Isola Pizza Bar for a dessert that was light and heavenly. It was a wonderful tour and our stops along the way very informative. We walked approximately two miles and it was a flat, easy walk thru the downtown area. I recommend to everyone in town to get to know more about San Diego history and it's food with a food tour with Bite San Diego soon! And if you are visiting our beautiful city in the future...do yourself a favor and go on a tour with Bite San Diego.
