Based on previous reviews, we made the recommended reservations for our Saturday night in Pacific Beach - not sure if they were required but better safe than sorry. This is a small neighborhood restaurant in north Pacific Beach on Cass Street. Our server (Mark) was very enthusiastic and knowledgeable about the menu and offered some strong opinions (some accurate, one or two not) that we followed. We started with the calamari caldi (which was excellent) and the pesto e carciofini burrata - wow! Both great recommendations from Mark! This was followed by pasta e fagioli - sorry, a creamy sauce with orecchiette pasta did not make my grade...give me ditalini, please, and a nice red sauce. This was not like Mamma (or I) used to make. We were going to order 2 pasta dishes but Mark recommended we go with the Osso Buco and a half order of Orecchiette Bosco. The Osso Buco was ok - at $34 a serving I guess I was expecting more, but I probably should have ignored the well-intentioned recommendation and gone for the original pasta dishes. The orecchiette bosco was outstanding! All was accompanied by a nice primitive...no room for desert. The chef (Franco) came by to see how we were enjoying our food, and was very warm and welcoming. There was a family with 2 young people seated near by - the Mom asked for some "rapid response" from the kitchen as her young men were really hungry - I saw this request was accommodated graciously and they were served well and professionally, leaving very happy. This is a great restaurant so go and enjoy!
