“Great Location, very good hotel”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 23, 2013

Stayed here for two nights on business. The location is great, pretty much in the heart of the Gaslamp Quarter. As for the hotel itself, its a typical Residence Inn, and I got what I normally get from a Residence Inn. Very comfortable and clean hotel, great wireless access throughout the property. A little noisier than most Residence Inn locations owing to the outdoor pool parties at the hotel across the street, but even that stopped right at 10 pm.

Pool area is on the smaller side, with not a lot of shade area, but it was clean. I did not eat at the hotel, but the menu looked ok. Bar served several local beers on tap which is a big plus in my book.

As with most Marriott properties, staff was professional, friendly and helpful.

Spent a few days in San Diego this month and used this hotel. We often stay at Residence Inns and this one meets or exceeds all standards. The location is excellent for a central base and the area has many restaurants and shops for evening activities.

We wanted to stay downtown to see a Padres game at Petco Park. This property is a five minute walk to the stadium. As for the hotel, Great service, very professional staff. Property is clean and relatively new. Rooms (One bedroom suite) were well appointed, but pretty small. Ideal for two guests. We would stay here again.

From our greeting by Anita to our checkout the people we encountered were always friendly, warm and helpful.
The property is clean, modern, quiet, and has the perfect central location.
The only downside would be the $38 charge for overnight parking. Cmon guys, thats a little outrageous. There is Ace parking right down the street and I payed $17. You can do better.
Despite the parking, I would always make this my place to stay in the city. Free bkfst, nightly snacks, and a good happy hour and your right in the Gaslamp. Wow, great property. Thank you again to everyone that we encountered, especially Anita when we checked in. We'll be back.

This hotel was fantastic. Great location, having the kitchen with a full size fridge was a big plus. The maid did a wonderful job cleaning up after a few nights of partying. The only thing I didn't love about the room was the vanity mirror lighting was dark and only on one side. Other than that it was all great.

Room Tip: I stayed up on the 10th floor after reading some complaints about noise and my room was very quiet.

There couldn't be a better choice for someone looking to save a little money in a hotel in a perfect location. The staff was consistently friendly and welcoming, from the valet parking guys through the front desk people to the breakfast staff and barkeep. It would be nice to have a full restaurant in house, but in that location who missed it? The strange door to the bathroom and the lack of an exhaust fan in there were the only negative things we noted. (Hearing the neighbor's door slide on its rollers over and over again was quite annoying.)

My husband and I just returned from a 6 day visit to San Diego. The Residence Inn Gaslamp was the perfect location since we were going to see a ballgame and Petco Park was right around the corner. The staff at the front desk were very helpful and recommended excellent restaurants. The bar inside the restaurant also very good!

The only small negative was the lack of an easy chair in the sitting room to go with the sofa. I'm a big fan of Residence Inn's because of the spaciousness it offers but this one was less so, I did enjoy the pocket doors to the bedroom and bathroom plus the kitchen appliances were very nice.

All in all, I would definitely recommend this hotel!
