“Great Hotel in Great Location”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2011

This is the nicest Residence Inn I've ever stayed in. Beautiful lobby and friendly, helpful staff.

Room was comfortable and had everything we needed.

Hotel is within walking distance to all the Gaslamp Quarter has to offer.

Free breakfast was great!

I recently stayed here for one night and was pleasantly surprised on how nice the room was and you couldn't ask for a better location if you want to explore the many bars and restaurants of the Gas Lamp district. Everyone at the hotel was very nice and were happy to point you in the direction of a great restaurtant. I would definately stay here next time I am in San Diego.

The entire staff had a "can do" attitude toward every request, including housekeeping, the staff in the second floor breakfast/happy hour area, the front desk, and the doormen. Everyone was extremely friendly and professional. Location is good - in the downtown Gaslight district and close enough for us to walk to the ferry to Coronado. Excellent property.

We used the Residence Inn Gaslamp as one of the room block hotels for the weekend of our wedding, and I could not be happier with the decision. The staff was courteous and helpful to all of our guests, the rooms and common areas were lovely, and the location is incomparable. It's such a relief to deal with a business (hotel or otherwise) with a culture of professionalism--it is clear that customer service and quality of presentation are a serious priority at Residence Inn Gaslamp.

My family stayed at the Residence Inn San Diego Gaslamp for 5 nights in November while my wife attended a conference at the Convention Center. The hotel was nice - clean, centrally located, and having an excellent staff, but there is certainly room for improvement.

The Good: The hotel seems relatively new and the design is modern and sleek. The staff was wonderful and accommodating in every way, truly making us feel at home. We stayed in a 1 bedroom suite, which was very helpful when you need to put a 2 year old to bed at 8pm while Mom and Dad still want to watch TV or read in the living area until later in the evening. The hotel's location is excellent, right in the middle of the Gaslamp tourist area, the Convention Center, and the baseball stadium.

The Bad: It is very noisy outside in the evening. There are many clubs/bars in the area, and we heard music pumping/girls screaming until the wee hours of the morning nearly every night. The complimentary breakfast is nice (and substantive), with cereals, eggs, pancakes, yogurt, waffles, etc. each morning. However the food often ran out and there didn't seem to be enough to handle the amount of people staying at the hotel. Parking is valet only, and costs $35 a day (which seemed quite expensive considering numerous off-site parking lots nearby).

Overall, a good place and we did enjoy our time there. At its price point (the low $200's) per night, you get a good value for a 1 bedroom suite. That being said, it's not perfect and we would consider other options the next time we travel to San Diego.

The location is great. Walking distance to many2 things. Restaurants/stores/mall. Complementery breakfast and evening snacks on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. The room is nice and big, with kitchen, large fridge, microwave. Sliding door to the bathroom with lock. in terms of design it's very different compared to all the residence Inn, I have stayed in. Friendly staff during breakfast and evening snacks, don't forget to tip them a few bucks will make their day. Valet will cost $35, but it's no secret since they tell you that on their website. You can find alternative parking, as long as you don't go in and out. We parked our car next door for $15 for the night, and we went places during the day, so it worked out perfectly. There are so many meter parking too. If you are coming with your family this hotel would be spacious enough, plus there is a sofa bed. The pool is on the rooftop, so we didn't use because it wasn't warm enough, even when the water is heated. Overall a great hotel, and only a few miles away from the airport.

Good hotel in the Gaslamp quarter. Rooms were big and clean. Hotel staff was helpful and friendly. Valet parking for 35 USD a day. Breakfast is complementary and was very good. There's a swimmingpool and some fittness equippment on the 3rd floor. Lots of stores and restaurants in the area and the San Diego convention center is within walking dinstance (5=10 minutes).
