“Cool breakfast in East Village”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 3, 2013

Really great place for breakfast, we had the mission rosemary with a side of bacon and the roast beef hash and eggs, washed down with mugs of steaming delicious coffee. We got there fairly early after reading the Tripadvisor reviews that it got busy, and despite it being a Monday morning it was soon full and people were queueing for tables. The service was polite and attentive and the food was delicious and hot. The rosemary bread and potatoes are just yummy, and everything was cooked very well. The décor is hip and trendy and there certainly was a good atmosphere. We would definitely go back and also recommend this cafe to anyone. Be warned though, you need to be hungry the portions are huge!

“Lovely, friendly and taste good”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 18, 2013

Had a lovely breakfast at The Mission. It is a bit hard to find parking spot and if you are not early enough, you might end up waiting, but I believe it worth it.
The rosemary potato is the best, hands down. I ordered the croissant with egg and tomato and fruits on side, and it was great, but I wish I had the potatoes. The plates are big, everything is fresh and tastes good.
Next time visiting Sad Diego, I will take my parents here.

“Excellent Choice for Breakfast”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 14, 2013

On my third morning in San Diego I had my third consecutive great breakfast. This time at The Mission on J Street. The croissant filled with egg, cheese and tomato was excellent. The croissant was warm and very fresh and the stuffing was cooked to perfection. I also had this with a side of bacon and a blackberry pancake which was also excellent. The Power Plato breakfast was also very good, consisting of egg whites, black beans, tortillas, salsa and an apple sausage that was really packed with flavor. To say I liked the food better at Snooze and Cafe 21 would not be a knock on The Mission. The food here was great and the price value was the best. The service was also excellent. I highly recommend The Mission.

“Great Vibe, Great Food”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

We went for breakfast - early - and it was almost empty. Which is a shame. It is a very beautiful room - very "historic California". Great coffee, quick and attentive service, an appealing outdoor area, and excellent Mexican-influenced food. If you have some time to enjoy an extra cup of coffee, or to read the paper (or iPad) in a little more depth than usual, you'd be hard-pressed to find a better place.
