“Wonderful experience.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 6, 2014

My wife and I had a 3 night stay. The staff was exceptionally helpful and friendly and fun to chat with. We had stayed in the New Orleans Indigo last year, and the format of the hotel is similar. We enjoyed that stay also ... strictly vacation stay. This one was mostly for business. The 7th floor patio was fun. We could drink our wine and look out at the Padres' baseball stadium while snacking on sandwiches. We spent most of our time walking the Gaslamp Quarter and poking around the shops. Tons of food opportunities also.
Sure, valet parking was expensive; but with the number of high-rise condos and apparments being constructed around the hotel, what should one expect? Demand and scarcity set the price every time. It did not detract from our stay because we knew about it up front. As a side note, this has got to be the most dog-friendly city in the country. The Padres even have a large area with a huge screen for doggies and owners(?) to watch the action. Indigo is similarly doggie friendly.

Room Tip: We had room 612. It has a king size bed with a view directly to the Padres stadium. We watched two g...

We stayed 2 nights at a decent rate (except for the ridiculous parking fee). The room (double queen) was spacious, modern and lovely. The staff was very friendly, but young and not terribly professional. We arrived after 4:30pm and were informed our room was not ready but they would text us in about an hour. We went out (the area around the hotel is clean, safe and there are plenty of bars and restaurants to choose from....plus PETCO park!) for a bite to eat and at around 7:00 when we STILL hadn't received a text we went back and checked in. We had the same young woman and she never acknowledged that they hadn't contacted us. The safety feature of the keys needed to access the elevator is nice but by the second day ours didn't work and had to be reissued. The Keruig coffee maker is great, but they only had 1 pod in the room (we had to call for more). Housekeeping did a rushed job on our room, left empty creamer containers on the counter and trash in the can. We had to call down to have toilet paper brought up? Then an employee tried to enter our room in the middle of the second day (it was an obvious mix up, but unnerving to say the least). This wasn't a bad hotel, but inconveniences add up fast. We tried to explain our problems at check out, and the gentleman was polite, but seemed disinterested.

I travel a lot for pleasure and to me, customer service is key in the hospitality business. There are a lot of nice hotels in the San Diego area, and I would probably choose another property next time.

I had an overnight business stay and the hotel was totally satisfactory and well priced compared with other nearby hotels. The only slight surprise and slight disappointment was finding it hard to get parked at the valet parking and that the parking was $41 from late at night to early in the morning

Clive59,

Thank you for choosing our Hotel Indigo and taking the time to leave us with your feedback. I am happy to hear that our property was convenient for your business trip but do apologize for the inconvenience of parking. Should you choose to stay with us again, please ask the front desk for assistance in locating nearby overnight lots at a slightly less rate. Although we do not have the space to accommodate self-parking, there are self-parking lots in the area.

Had a fantastic one-night stay at Hotel Indigo and would definitely recommend staying here. The ambiance, comfort, and luxury of the hotel was great and very centrally located, close to great restaurants and bars. Even a close walk to Petco Park! As a note, no self parking but we we're able to find street parking luckily as I think the valet may be pretty pricey. Staff was very friendly and it was an overall great hotel - would definitely stay here again!

I loved my stay at hotel indigo whilst attending a conference. The room was comfortable, clean and very nicely decorated. Bed was super comfortable. Staff were very warm (apart from one girl at front desk who was rude) and welcoming when arriving back to the hotel. Breakfast was very tasty. Had some issues with key card but it got resolved. Overall I loved it.

We booked our trip through booking.com. We were advised that this is a temporary authorization and that the hotel will charge us at the front desk for this trip. To our surprise we were charged twice, once by the front desk of the hotel and a second time by booking.com. When we contacted the hotel, we were advised not to worry that the charge in booking.com is only an authorization and that it will disappear. IT DID NOT!!!!! we called the hotel again- and asked to be refunded, "no problem"... yeh right - our trip was in January 2014 - until today we are fighting with our credit card over this charge. My husbands credit score was hurt - this is ridiculous - DO NOT GO THERE - HORRIBLE - nothing is worth thiis double charge and being ignored by this hotel!!!!! AVOID AVOID AVOID!!!!!!

Checked into Hotel Indigo last week for a one night stay as part of San Diego trip. Nice hotel but not geared towards family. After booking through 3rd party it turns out Hotel has no pool and not really within walking distance of any family oriented attractions short of a walk up and down 5th Avenue.

The one other issue was the $41/day valet parking. When I asked about self parking, none is available. It's valet or nothing. We were lucky and found a meter outside the hotel that just happened to be on a non-street cleaning night so was able to plug the meter and then leave it overnight until 8am.

As for the room...it was very large, seemingly recently renovated, and a huge bathroom with beautiful shower.. There were hardwood floors (no carpet) so that gave it a bit of a hollow and less warm feeling.

There is a nice roof top bar / lounge with gas heaters/fire places and couches.

For a 4-star hotel and the price I paid....it left me wanting. Call it 3 1/2 and definitely a boutique hotel geared towards couples, business folk....but not families.
