“convenient location and the best of service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2012

We recently went on a ladies trip to San Diego and stayed at Hotel Indigo. I must say the staff there is excellent... everyone from Ellen at the front desk to our valet attendant, Mark was extremely helpful, friendly and efficient. Ellen gave us some great recommendations (Asti for Italian/ seafood and The Broken Yolk for brunch). Since the hotel is centrally located, we were able to walk to each restaurant. Parking is such a premium downtown, so we were happy that we did not have to drive. We could see Petco Park's fireworks from our hotel window...somewhat of a bonus on a nice night! Rooms are ecologically and pet friendly, with modern elegance. The only drawback is traffic on ball game nights at Petco Park... Otherwise, a perfect experience!

Room Tip: Rooms on street side to view fireworks at Petco Park... We had a room near the elevator but found i...

I stayed here while in San Diego for work. The staff was very friendly and welcoming, the hotel was stylish without seeming pretentious, and the room was quite nice.

The Gaslamp Quarter is far from my favorite spot in San Diego, but this hotel was a convenient walk to the convention center. I'd say it wasn't right smack dab in the middle of the action of the Gaslamp Quarter, which I appreciated because it was never too busy or noisy outside. That said, all the action in the area was just a block or two away.

If I have to spend time in this part of San Diego again, I'll definitely consider Hotel Indigo again.

This eco-chic hotel was fantastic. Valet parking is the only parking option at this hotel, which was $38, but compared to SF this is a steal. The good news is you can text message them and the car will be supposedly be ready by the time you get down. The evening front desk staff on August 11th, 2012 was not so excited to check us in, but I guess it was nighttime. Maybe he had a party to go to Saturday night. Laura, our breakfast server at Table 509, on 8/12/12 made up for the previous night's non-enthusiastic check in. She was quite possibly the best server I've ever met; she refilled our drinks and brought our check without us even asking for them, at just the right time!!! This never happens in real life! Trust me. I'm in the hospitality industry. Thanks Laura, for making our stay that much better!

Room Tip: ask for a view so you don't end up facing concrete. make sure the A/C works. we were unfortunate...

We recently booked Hotel Indigo for a Faculty Leadership Retreat. 22 high school teachers/administrators attended this 2 day retreat. We used the hotel's meeting space, catering service and hotel rooms. Everything exceeded our expectations. Although it was only a 40 minute drive away, Hotel Indigo provided the perfect get-away for our group. We offered a hosted cocktail hour on the roof-top deck, walked to a local restaurant (Lotus Thai – excellent choice) for dinner and then went bowling (right next door to the restaurant). Our group raved about the location, hotel amenities, food, and hotel rooms. We can definitely recommend Hotel Indigo; whether business or leisure your sure to have a great experience!

StephanieF882,

Thank you so much for your glowing review! We are thrilled to see you had such a great time during your meeting. Our beautiful Level 9 terrace bar is a great place to relax with a drink & even take in a Padres game if they’re in town. We are so happy to have gotten your seal of approval. We hope you’ll take your own recommendation & visit us again soon!

My boyfriend came to visit and decided to stay to this hotel because it was four stars. Everyone working was very friendly but as far as the actual hotel, it wasn't great. My boyfriend had broken his arm and needed to continually ice it, well the floor we stayed on,the one above and below the ice machines were out of service...not too convenient for this case. The room was small, the bed was average, but the shower was ok. Another downside to this hotel is that it has to be the only hotel without a pool. Very unhappy with our stay to say the least.

Room Tip: Go to the OMNI!

We just came back from another two-nights stay since 2010 at the Hotel Indigo last week (Tue-Wed) and the service and apperance of this hotel are consistent. We stayed in room 614 which is facing Petco Park. The view is stunning as there are two large floor to ceiling windows. The room had a safety deposit box (at no charge), however no fridge (we didn't need one anyway). The furniture and bed sheets as well as the hardwood floor still looked like new, and the entire room was impeccable. The entire hotel is well kept, with modern furniture and designs, and an actually very nice smell. There's a roof top bar with an excellent view, especially if you want to watch Baseball, or just chill after a long day of walking. The drinks are rather expensive though. The hotel bar in the lobby has excellent coffee and is a nice spot to have an aperitif. The decor is great, and the bar also has floor to ceiling windows which can be opened and gives you the feeling that you are sitting outside. The area is safe and there are now several bars and restaurants close by. I highly recommend Zanzibar with its moderate prices and rustic but comfortable inside. It's only about a 10-minutes walk to the Gaslamp quarter, and Seaport Village can now be reached by cutting across the tracks behind Petco Park as the walkway behind the Convention Center now stretches all the way to the Hilton. Upon arrival we were checked in by Darren in a very professional and courteous manner. The entire staff including the bell boy and the bartender are very friendly, helpful and always with a smile on their face. If you are looking for a hotel were you can spend a lot of time inside the room or if you are just looking for a place to sleep the Hotel Indigo offers the best for both traveler types. This has again been a wonderful experience from finish to start and we will definitely come back!

Room Tip: 614 (and 514, 414 etc) all face Petco Park.

Sorry folks but we found your hotel way to dog friendly! We went to the roof top bar and 2 dogs were unleashed, got into a fight, and both wizzed on the glass door. The second night we discovered the dog poop station at the roof top bar and had to watch and smell a dog do his duty right where we were enjoying an $$$$ drink. The next morning just outside our room we smelt dog poop in the hallway. Going to breakfast there was 4 large dogs in the elevator so we waited for the next one. At breakfast someone came in off of the street with 2 bull terriors and tied them to the barstool and then proceeded to the bathroom and came back 12 minutes later. He never ordered anything from the bar but sat there and watched TV. Whats up with the K Cup coffee? One serving only that makes a weak coffee. If you are a dog person stay here but at $ 239 per night plus $ 38 for parking I would stay somewhere else.
