We stayed at the Doubletree Del Mar on Feb 4, 2006. The room has very comfy bed and the hotel pool was nice and grounds were well maintained. We'll stay there again when we go to SD area.

We recently stayed at the Del Mar Doubletree and are planning to come back. The staff at this hotel did everything they could to make our stay comfortable. We were granted an early check-in, a late check-out, an upgraded room by the pool, and even provided a wheelchair!
Our large room had been recently redone and the pool area is very attractive. There is a grocery store about a block away which was very convenient. The parking is free.

The Doubletree Del Mar Hotel was easily accessible off a major highway. This extremely clean 3-star hotel was a very good deal considering that I was able to successfully bid $60/night on Priceline for this Hotel. I had stayed in a 2 star Hotel in San Diego last year for $60 and it in no way measured up to the value of the $60 I paid. My trip was overcast and rainy and I didn't get an opportunity to try the pool or jacuzzi, yet I walked around the pool area and it would have been very relaxing to enjoy the pool if weather was better. The restaurant was slightly pricey. I had no complaints with the comfort of my room. The only exception overall, was that our room was next to the elevator and you can hear the mechanics of the elevator. I recommend that you request a room that is not next to the elevators.

My wife and I stayed at this hotel December 29th - January 3rd. From the moment of arrival we felt very comfortable. The staff is extremely accommadating and very friendly. They are quick to offer advice or direction and are very generous with the free cookies. I ate way too many. We had a room on the third floor overlooking the pool and, unfortunately, the freeway. The room was clean and spacious. It had a comfortable queen bed with a nice comforter and plenty of pillows. I noticed a little freeway noise the first night but after that it wasn't a problem. If you need a convenient, friendly place to stay....this is it. We stayed at the Estancia in La Jolla last year but enjoyed this hotel much more for a third of the price. Check Priceline for a great deal on this hotel. Happy travels.
