We just got back from San Diego and were very disappointed by this hotel.

It seems like being an inn keeper is an after-thought at this hotel. Priority is given to the "Concerts by the Bay" that go on several times a week (at least in the summer) inside the cramped outdoors quarters. This means, whether you like it or not, you'll hear the music blaring until 10:30pm (at least) and if you're in building A, you'll be harrassed by the ticket controllers.

Now, when there is no concert, there are weddings, with outdoor music and noisy guests who wake you up at 2am and 4 am by loudly talking outside your door.

If this place was cheap, it wouldn't bother me so much, but at $240 w/o tax a night for a junior suite we really felt ripped off.

Needless to say we won't be back.

We stayed at this hotel 7/18/04 to 7/22/04. We are a family of 5 and booked a Executive Marina Suite and it was wonderful. Very clean and very big rooms with full kitchen and living area and a wonderful patio with table and chairs and a great view of the marina. The pool was big and clean and our children had a blast. We will be back to stay again at this great hotel. Beautiful location on Shelter Island.

We stayed in a standard room on the first floor. Once in the room, we discovered that the door to the adjoining room was not locked, so we took care of that. The party in the adjoining room was very loud, even in the afternoon. We could hear everything said and done in that room until 2AM when the group there was finally evicted. We were out most of the day and discovered the party still going on in the late evening. I complained at 11PM. It didn't quiet down at all. We also had an ice machine right outside our door. Once the group was evicted, they started to hang out around the ice machine. Just as I was getting ready to pick up the phone once again, a guard ordered these "guests" off the property. It was quiet at last. The room's furnishings were ordinary with two beds, a table, chairs & TV. There was so much furniture in the room (or the room was so small) it was difficult to get to the bathroom because there was only about a foot between the bed and the bathroom area wall.

We complained about the noise during checkout and were offered an upgrade on our next visit. I'm not sure we would stay there again on our own, but are scheduled for a convention next year. We took the upgrade and hope for a better experience next time.

We originally booked a single room, king bed for me, my husband and our 11 month old. Upon seeing our room I realized that it was not the same room I saw online (not our fault) and not nearly enough room for the three of us (totally my fault). We asked for a Garden View Suite upgrade and negotiated the price down to a resonable cost. We went to lunch and came back around 3pm thinking our room would be ready. It wasn't and our baby was rapidly melting down in their lobby (not pretty). They proceeded to upgraded us yet again to a harbor view suite with a full kitchen. We had a FANTASTIC and relaxing time. Everything was awesome and we felt like royalty. The staff is very accomodating, friendly and helpful. We can't wait to go back.
