“Water, tropical gardens and spacious rooms”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 15, 2014

This is a Polynesian style hotel, all the doors open to the outdoors. There are no long dark corridors here. You walk through tropical gardens and a big pool area to get to your room The highest you will be is on the 2nd floor. The suites are spacious and generously appointed, our suite even had a full kitchen in it. We had a completely separate living space from the bedroom and even had a large dressing area complete with makeup area. This is the advantage of staying at an older hotel, the rooms are reminiscent of what suites really used to look like. The disadvantage is that you are in an older hotel and the decor is dated. NOT the fixtures, the bathroom was updated and attractive, but the decor, furniture and such is not the most exciting to look at.

The staff was helpful and inviting. We couldn't get the a/c to work and a technician was at our doorstep within 5 minutes of our call. Of course there was nothing wrong with the unit, we just didn't understand how to get it to stay on. Our bed was comfortable and the 2 large flat screen tvs didn't hurt our stay either.

We came here for a concert and this worked out amazing for us. We were able to enjoy ourselves and not have to rush home after. We also were able to thoroughly enjoy drinking since we weren't driving anywhere. I did realize though that for the hotel guests that were not going to the concert, they would get to listen to the music whether they liked it or not. This may be too loud for guests wanting to get to bed early.

We however will be coming back to the Inn, we really enjoyed our stay and there's a lovely restaurant attached for your meals.

Room Tip: Get a room facing the marina, this way you look out over the bay and you can enjoy the sunsets.

Only managed 1 night here as moved out of Crown Plaza ASAP and wanted to be near the sea.
Welcome excellent, room clean and the kind of beach resort feel very nice (though not on the beach).
Facilities -pool,bar,restaurant all excellent.Harbour views great too. There are a few unlisted extras that sneak on the bill -local taxes mainly but would still go back and stay again.Preferably soon!

its facing the ocean and mornings are lovely to take a long walk. we stayed in suite rooms -2 families ( 4 adults and 3 kids between 7 and 12 ) got rooms beside each other - extremely spacious. stayed only for a night was great.

didn't have the breakfast in the hotel as that is supposed to be the weak spot of the hotel so didn't even venture there. downtown views are good. gives a peaceful atmosphere. had a live band playing in the bar on the weekend and was good.

Room Tip: guess the suite rooms near the bay are the best.

Humphrey's was excellent for my daughters wedding. Darla from the Sales Department was very friendly and helpful. The reservation staff took care of all our out of towns guest needs. The Marina Ballroom was just beautiful. Every little detail was taken care of by Darla. The rooms and pool area was perfect to relax during what was a stressful time. I would highly recommend Humphrey's. From ceremony to reception the sales department ROCKED!!!

My wife and I stayed at Humphrey's Half Moon in April and were very pleased with our stay. We hadn't been there before, but I had been offered a Groupon and so we went for it. The staff and general manager were very helpful and accommodating. The location is unique, with great views of downtown San Diego. The grounds are gorgeous and the pool area is outstanding. There are plenty of restaurants, liquor stores, and the grocery nearby. The rooms are spacious - a bit older looking and feeling - but generally well kept. The kitchenette was a surprise. If you were staying here for a week as home base for a family San Diego vacation, this would be a good choice. Not too big or noisy, we found Humphrey's just right.

Room Tip: We asked for the harbor view and had an outstanding view of the boats. If you get a downstairs room...

I had previously written a review below. However after speaking to the Comptroller, Michael H.from Humphrey's corporate office. He has assured me that all of my experiences will be addressed in a timely manner. I was extremely please with the outcome of my conversation with him. I would then advise anyone to give Humphrey's Half Moon Inn & Suites in San Diego a try knowing that Michael H. would have my concerns corrected and that they care enough to make all of your experiences with them a very pleasant & memorable one.

We stayed at Humphreys for one night and it was great. We took advantage of the restaurant which was pretty good with a great view of the harbor. We went to the evening nightclub and had a great time listening to music and dancing. The hotel is across from the beach and we had a great walk both on the day we arrived and the morning before we left. The staff were very friendly too. Our room had a great view of the harbor and was very nice. We would definitely stay there again.

Room Tip: The end suite is very nice but the balcony is really small...no problem for us
