“Great location. Crappy hotel.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 30, 2012

Incredibly well situated a short drive from Sea world, and also close to San Diego zoo, and various restaurants at Hill Crest (like the incredibly authentic tika taka grill), but the rooms were tired, the restaurant service was poor, and the reception staff particularly unhelpful.

“We will definitely return!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2012

We were so happy to receive a complimentary upgrade to a 1 bedroom suite. We had booked a lanai garden room, which I don't think is a suite. We were celebrating a special birthday! The suite was very large with a separate living room, dining room and a kitchenette. The bed was king size and the bathroom was attached. This might sound crazy to some people, but I was thrilled that the water in the shower/tub was SUPER hot! I love to take a bath each night and I LOVE HOT water. You'd be surprised at the number of places we stay where we're unable to get the water to a temperature that I like. The restaurants are fabulous, the staff is very friendly and accommodating and the feel to the resort is quaint, quiet and luxurious all in one.

Room Tip: Lagoon facing rooms are quieter and you can feed the birds. :)

“Anniversary Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

We really enjoyed staying here. Will definitely come back in the future and stay here. The room was awesome. Ours was right on the bay. You could step our the sliding glass door and it was right there. You could just sit and relax. Wish we would have stayed in and enjoyed it more. Enjoyed the hot tubes. We didn't get a chance to go to all the hot tubes on the property. There were several. The food was really good. We ate every breakfast and most of our dinners and Barefoot Grill on the property. The market on property was super helpful. Especially Pamela. Best place to stay.

Room Tip: Ours was on the bayside. Very quiet. Had no problems with noise. The property even has police office...

“Just what our family needed;”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

This past October our family did the big six day adventure to Disneyland. Knowing we would be absolutely exhausted at the end of six days with Mickey we decided to book three nights at a resort where we could all just unwind before heading back home. We booked the Paradise Point Resort through Vacationist at a wonderful rate and upgraded to the Lanai Bayside room for a small fee. We were not disappointed. Our room was tastefully furnished and right on the bay. We only had to walk out our back door, walk on the grass for about 10 feet and then we were standing on beautiful sandy beach. We also had the bonus of having our own fire pit which we took full advantage of. Our room was lovely but a bit tired. You could see chips in the paint, and the bathtubs could use updating. Other than that we had two very comfortable queen size beds, fridge, table and chairs. The bathroom was a very good size with a large vanity and separate bathing area. There are five pools on the property. Two of the pools are definitely worth noting; The main pool is an absolute treat for the kids and you really felt like you were in a tropical paradise when you are sitting by it. The second pool has a nice gas fire pit where you can sit and relax while watching the kids play. The gardens are amazing and we really enjoyed walking the grounds. The restaurants on site are quite expensive but the food is excellent. We only really ate there a couple of times and the rest of the time we brought food in or roasted hot dogs on our fire pit (as per the children's requests). I was very sad when we had to leave this resort as it was the most relaxing stay that I have had at any hotel. The staff were very helpful and go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need. The concierge staff recommended an excellent Mexican restaurant and provided us with a detailed map on how to get there. We only left the resort a couple of times and that was to go to SeaWorld or to dine at local restaurants. We had a list of things we wanted to see and do in San Diego but the only thing we did was SeaWorld and a big part of that was because of how much fun we were having a the resort. We will definitely be back, even if it is just to complete our San Diego sight seeing list. Thank you for such a relaxing stay.

Room Tip: Definitely upgrade to a Bayside room or more. Just to wake up in the morning, take your coffee and...

“Awesome Christmas getaway with wife”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 26, 2012

Paradise Point Resort is a true 4-star tropical resort. I truly do not understand any of the negative reviews on this resort that I have read in the past. Do not hesitate to stay at this resort.

My wife and I upgraded to a Bayside Junior Suite. The room is big and beautiful with Balinese-style furnishings and hardwood floors. The bathroom is equally large with marble and travertine with a Toto toilet and all. The kitchen has a sink, microwave and little refrigerator. There is a safe, hair dryer and iron and ironing board in the closet. The only complaint was that sometimes the water pressure wasn't great and when I asked the front desk, I was told it was because they were a "green" hotel.

The room faces the beach and bay with direct access out the patio door. There are fire pits ont he beach directly outside that are nice but can get loud at night with people who are partying on the sand. But you on the bay, right on the sand and that's what you are here for.

The grounds are beautiful with 2 great restaurants, several pools, horseshoe pits, Bocci Ball, fitness center, etc. You can purchase food at the store to feed the ducks on site. You can also rent bicycles, segways, etc. outside the store. Do not let the age of this resort keep you from staying here. The rooms are bungalows and are truly modern and awesome inside. I like that you get your own parking space outside the bungalow. We will stay here again.
