We visited for a day outing through a Travelzoo deal, which included a spa treatment and access to the pool facility. We did not spend the night, so the review is based on the facilities we used including the spa, pool, dining.
The pool area is lovely, with plenty of seating and cabanas. The pool sits above the Mission Bay boardwalk, which also offers bike and boat rentals. Unfortunately, its not heated and the music was way too loud for a quiet Tuesday afternoon. The poolside service fell short and we had to track down someone to take our drink order. The drinks are the typical resort inflated prices ($12-15) and my cocktail was terrible but my husband enjoyed his.
We dined at Acqua, which has an amazing bay front outdoor patio and fun lounge chairs for those just interested in drinks. The menu has something for everyone but again standard inflated hotel prices. The food was fine, though not memorable. The setting is more of an attraction than the cuisine.
Our spa experience had its ups and downs. Calling to make a reservation took multiple calls over an annoying 3 hour period. The spa has recently been redone and is nice but not luxurious. Felt more like a day spa than a resort spa. We encountered a few glitches during the actual massage which put a big damper on the experience but the staff has offered to fix the mistake, so I'll save my final review of the spa until then.
Bottom line for the resort... nice place if you get a deal and don't require top notch service.
