“Perfect Accomodations in a perfect location!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2012

The Palomar is located on 5th street right next to the house of blues!! You cannot beat this location in the heart of the GasLamp District. From the moment we pulled up to the curb the service was impeccable.. the valet whisked away our car, the check in process was a breeze (plus we were upgraded which was a great surprise). The facility is clean, modern and has all the ammeinites you will need for a wonderful stay.. To retrieve your car from the valet you simply need to text them before you leave your room and its waiting at the curb! I have stayed in this location before it was the Palomar and the new owners have made subtle changes that add to the refinement of this hotel. The roof top pool area and happy hour is a fun time and a gorgeous setting.. Room service was yummy and we received it rather quickly as well. In a nutshell you cannot go wrong with a stay here! I know I will be returning next year!

I am allergic to down/feathers, and I always state that when I make a reservation,
The Hotel Palomar was the first hotel to actually have the room all taken care of when I arrived.
Nice Room, Clean, fun perks with wine hour & morning coffee.
The only bummer was the wedding that had the pool closed until 7pm.

I really enjoyed my stay here. Aesthetically it was beautiful. Nice + clean modern lines. My room had hardwood floors and high ceilings, which I loved. When I was here, it was mostly cloudy so it did make the room seem a little bit cold and dark (not that much natural light).

Room + Bathrooms were pretty clean. It was hardwood floors, so I think I noticed the dust around the corners a little more. The sheets were comfortable and so was the bed. We did have a problem with our toilet but they sent someone up immediately to fix it.

My favorite part was the bench near the windows where you can eat and look down on the street.

Great location, near the gaslamp and the hotel bar has some crazy good drinks.

The moment we entered the hotel through the huge statement door we were greated by an employees dog, and front end services who were very friendly and helpful. When we got to our room I was quite pleasantly surprised to see hardwood flooring, very nice feature. The bathroom had a very nice glass barn door entrance along with a rainshower and beautiful vanity, but the most amazing feature was the king size bed it was so soft and cozy, the duvet was not too hot, and with all the pillows it really made you feel like you were sleeping on a cloud. I have never slept better while on vacation and will probably need to purchase a new mattress because mine doesn't compare!
Hotel is in a great location, very dog friendly, and free wine tasting was a nice touch.
Maybe one thing they can add is more accessible tourist brouchures instead of having to ask the conceirge as they are normally quite busy.

How fun is it to be on vacation and get to sleep on a cloud? Thanks so much for the review. It sounds like you had a fun visit and got to enjoy wine hour, our pet ambassador and a great night's sleep.

Looking forward to your next visit,
Mark

Enjoyed the Hotel Palomar! The room although a little small was very well appointed with a wonderful bed. The bathroom was top notch with a cool rainfall shower! Found the service to be helpful and the resturant was very good. The location is excellent, went to a concert right next door at the House of blues. Its also an easy walk to the Gaslamp with many good restaurants, shops, and clubs.

This is a contemporary hotel, but very secure and well maintained, right in the middle of many restaurants, right near zoo and balboa park. Parking was &36 per night. Across street you can prk for $25 we enjoyed our stay. We were told by the bellman that we could park on road Sunday night and if we left by 6:00 am there would be no problem but he forgot to mention the sweepers and by saving money it cost me a $52 parking ticket that was left on car at 3:43 on morning. Still we loved the hotel and would definitely go back

I am so glad you enjoyed your stay thinla. It looks like you got to get out and Live Like a Local while staying at the Palomar.

If you have some time please contact me personally regarding the parking ticket you encountered. Parking tickets are always a bummer, especially when you are traveling.

Thank you,
Mark

We stayed in the suite and it exceeded expectations. It was very spacious and well designed. The staff was really great and helpful. We let them know we were staying for our anniversary and they had a nice bottle of wine for us. I have stayed at multiple Kimpton hotels and this one was even better than many in their boutique chain.
