“Top Notch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 2 days ago NEW

You can't beat the location, although the taxi driver took great liberties on the route from the port but that is no fault of the hotel. The Valet was out immediately blocking traffic so we could get out of the cab safely. It was early in the morning as we had just gotten off a cruise ship so our room was not ready, and not expected, but we were allowed to change and store luggage.

The hotel was an easy walk to many of San Diego's top attractions.

The room was clean, staff was amazing and the breakfast buffet, although expensive at $21.95, was worth every penny and was quite extensive.

We chose the hotel in part because of the shuttle to the airport. We would not hesitate to book this hotel again.

The Westin on Broadway in downtown San Diego was a delight! It's close to a number of great restaurants and walking distance from the waterfront which offers all kinds of incredible things to see. The weather makes walking around San Diego an incredible pleasure and having the Westin as home base was great. The restaurants were great, the rooms were nice but what truly set this hotel apart was the friendly, helpful personalities of every staff member I came in contact with. Can't wait to come back!

we travel to san diego for challenging business every month. EVERY month, for a week. There are three people who make our trip as "homelike" as possible: Teresa Gait, Juan V and Zulema P. We could stay anywhere in San Diego, but these 3 people have made us love waking up in the morning to have breakfast served by Juan and Zulema and coming "home" every night to dinner served by Teresa ... when you have to travel for long periods of time, it's rare to find a large metropolitan hotel that feels like home. Teresa, Juan and Zulema are San Diego's hospitality ambassadors. Thank you.

(I've just seen that we're asked to rate by time spent at this Westin ... we've been staying every month for the last two years ... since 2013 ... and the folks working there have been working there since then ... I think an indication of how special a place has become for us!)

Room Tip: I would only say that the breakfast rates and wifi are quite high.

We did a weekend in San Diego and wanted to be near the airport, but walking distance to the ballpark. This place fit the bill. Little Italy is 4 blocks to the north, the gaslamp district is just around the corner, and you can walk along the harbor to Petco.

When we arrived I did ask if there were any rooms with good views available and we were put in a corner unit on the 14th floor. You could definitely see the harbor, it was a great bonus. Parking is a little pricy, but if you are going to use the in and out privileges it is worth it.

Staff and room were all perfect. No complaints, I would absolutely stay there again!

Room Tip: Just ask for a view:)

AndSid,

We are a great choice for staying in San Diego for a Padres game. Whether you are here for the baseball games at Petco or football games at Qualcomm, it is an easy trip to both! We are only 2 blocks from the train and trolley station that has express lines that go to the stadiums and we are walking distance to Petco. We hope to see you again the next time you join us for a game.

Kind Regards,
Alyssa Turowski

A beautiful hotel in a wonderful city. I really enjoyed my stay, I had a great view of the waterfront and it was conveniently located and easy access. There is even a bus that takes you directly to the airport.

Room Tip: The Westin is centrally located near shopping, the waterfront, the trolley and lots of great restaur...

Let me start by describing this property as both a Starwood and westin mistake. Customer disservice begins when you arrive and ends with the worst Westin has to offer. You can be surprised by sharing elevators with the homeless outside. I do not think old shorts with holes in them and mismatched shoes the infamous reebok workout rental. Hotel security was non existent and customer service at the front desk was poor. This property was a serious lapse in my judgement for staying here and why I am returning to the Grant. I have not stayed here in more than five years and regret returning. The hotel offers an spg reception to anyone whom is an spg member. It does not have a club lounge. The wifi is expensive and slow. I had trouble with both wifi and wired from the room and it was terribly slow. I probably had faster speed from 9.6 baud dialup. Every night, the water pressure rumbled very loudly and vibrated the bathroom fixtures and I felt the pipes were going to break and thus flood my room. Hotel maintenance said to ignore it. Overall, a westin disappointment and soured me on desiring to stay at another westin albeit I have stayed over 500 nights in Starwood props. Glad to return to the Grant if not the Marriott.

Webpuccino,

Not a review we are accustomed to receiving and it is not reflective of our historical service results. The Westin San Diego is consistently rated within the top 25 Westin’s, as it pertains to service, cleanliness and conditions. It is unfortunate we were unable to connect with you while you were on property to discuss your disappointments and work together to ensure we addressed your concern affecting your overall experience before you departed. I hope to connect with you to address your concerns and win back your loyalty to Westin and Starwood.

Kind Regards,
