Stayed here Wed thru Sat nites in mid-July 2012. It's an older building that's been redone. My spouse & I stayed on the 5th floor. Room was roomy & clean & comfy. Didn't notice for a day or so, but this building must have been used for offices at some point, as the walls between the room & the hallway are glass! They are completely covered with thick fabric, for privacy. But it doesn't absord much hallway noise, like a regular wall would. Still, we got lucky & noise wasn't much of an issue. Door to the room is still original, too, even with a cool old-style letter slot! Breakfast items are limited in variety, but plentiful in supply & served on the roof where the view of downtown & the harbor is wonderful. Right on the edge of the Gaslamp Qtr where everything is within walking distance. If you want to go further out, you can catch the trolley @ 5th Ave, just north of the hotel. Not a lot of bells & whistles w/ this hotel (ie: no pool, hot tub, free wi-fi,). If you want that, you're gonna pay at least $100 more per night, at least in the summer. Be warned: If you're driving into the city, you will pay anywhere from $20-30 per day to park you car @ any hotel downtown. So factor that into your vacation budget. All in all, a nice basic room at a fair price.
