“Nice place for Tequila/Margaritas. I'd skip the food.”
Really really wanted to like this place. I did LOVE the decor and atmosphere and the great tequila selection. Had a wonderful tequlia and a great margarita.
Our group of four all had the same impression. Nice location in North Park neighborhood. Service was good. Nice outdoor patio area as well.
We knew the menu was limited as I checked it out on the website before going. I don't mind a limited menu - figured that means they specialize and it would be good. We found it just average and in fact on in our group said that Rubios makes better tacos. (No offense intended to Ralph Rubio).
We all had different things, but all agreed the tacos were not that great. We had an appetizer, guacamole, salsa y serranos. The chips were not homemade and tasted like they were from a bag that you could get in a grocery store. Almost stale tasting. The guac was average to good. The salsa had no heat at all, but was fine. The chilis were ok and we mixed them in the the others.
The tortillas on the tacos were average. I can buy better at my local corner store. The fish and shrimp tacos I had were OK. The mahi mahi and shrimp were cooked fine, but not very tasty. One in our party said the steak/beef was not tasty and tough.
We did not go on a Friday, so missed the mole special. But judging from our food experience we will not return.
