“consistently good”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 24, 2013

I have been to Spices Thai in Carmel Valley Ctr about once a month for the last several years. The food is consistently very good, and very consistent: you order Tom Kha Khai today and you can be assured it is going to be exactly the same as it was a month or 12 months ago. After so many visits we have learned to stay away form the specials menu: the simpler currys and apasta menus is excellent, while some of their attempt at creativity, well, not so good. From the curries their green curry with duck is very nice, as are the eggplant and the basil leave or the mint leave. They make a killer Pad Tai noodles (however it is spelled). And in season we alweays get for dessert sticy rice with mango.

“Fabulous Thai Cuisine, Great Value”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

On a recent business trip I had dinner here twice, once dining in and once take-out. I ordered all vegetarian dishes, of which there are plenty of choices. My friends ordered meat and seafood dishes on the dine-in occasion. The food is incredibly fresh, delicious and beautifully presented. The fresh veggie spring rolls are stuffed full of greens, mint, rice vermicelli and garnished with greens and shredded red cabbage and carrots and they come with a peanut sauce and a sweet/sour sauce. I had these twice and the take-out was as good as the dine-in, packed perfectly. The veggie soup was outstanding, a tasty broth packed with perfectly fresh baby corn, sliced carrots and celery, mushrooms and tofu. The Spices Veggie Salad was huge and absolutely fresh with a fabulous spicy lime dressing and some strips of crisp-fried tofu. Dining in the service was very good and the atmosphere quiet and comfortable. I only wish we had a Thai like this back home ....

“Good food and great service.”

The food was very good. The service was great. I enjoyed the red curry chicken while sitting outside on a pleasant Sunday afternoon.

“Good, Nice Setting, Kid Friendly”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 25, 2012

We love this local Thai restaurant best in all of san diego. IT is at the flower hill mall, all the way in the back, tucked in a bit. IT is a true gem. Their menu is varied and dishes do have a distinctive flavor, not like other thai restaurants where everything tastes pretty much the same.

“Wonderful Lunch”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 13, 2012

Great place for dinner and would imagine the same for lunch. Very calm atmosphere for the business travelor. Very attentive wait staff. Portions are generous, had enough for lunch the next day.
