“Authentic Mexican in a fast food atmosphere”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 8, 2013 via mobile

We were put off by the exterior and the somewhat seedy neighborhood, but decided to try it. We decided that take-out was the best option after seeing the inside. Great food for a super low price(nothing more than $7). No complaints for the price.

“Awesome”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 19, 2013

I don't do "flattery" but this is literally the BEST food I've had in San Diego, and the best burrito anywhere.

The burritos I've gotten (Surf and Turf, California) have been MASSIVE, sometimes clocking in at over 3 pounds. All of their burritos (except a couple specialty ones) are under 10 bucks with a drink. You'd think that'd mean that their quality is lower, right? NOPE. Amazingly flavorful ingredients, perfectly cooked meat, and the free salsa/condiments bar has a huge selection you can load onto it. The steak/carne asada is the most tender I've ever had (they pressure cook it), and it's cheap so try it.

Atmosphere is great. Soccer playing on all the televisions (in spanish, though), memorabilia on the walls from famous people who've eaten there....noisy, but good. Kids meals are about the size of a normal guy's meal....BIG. They will probably not be able to finish it.

Their soda selections include some mexican specialties, as well as the standard Pepsi products. Free refills, and trust me, with the size of those burritos, you'll need it. They also have $1 bins of chips and sopapilla (cinnamon-sugar chips) available for purchase, and they're excellent as well.

My overall point: this is a hidden gem; if you're in San Diego and you're not eating here, you're cheating yourself.

“Great local restaurant with amazing dishes”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 4, 2013

We came across this surprisingly good restaurant on our way to San-Diego's old city.
The portions are ridiculously large and most important... delicious!!!
As a newbie, I've asked for the house's recommendation. I had the "Surf & Turf" and it was amazing!
Surely will pay a visit next time I'm around!

“Starting to wonder about San Diegoans...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 1, 2013

Went to the top rated Chinese place last night, and JV's Mexican Food, the second rated Mexican place tonight...Very underwhelmed and disappointed with both places. I'm beginning to get the impression that Californians just don't care about food as much as others. Edible, but certainly not delicious. Low quality meats. Mexican rice soggy. House salsa strange. Pico de gallo had zero bite. Guacamole...meh... Chips thick like the ones at "On The Border." I would consider this to be average Mexican food at best. However, the limited service was fantastic, prices cheap, and the employees were extremely kind, preventing a lower rating.

Followed the advice of others and took a chance on this little spot and we were not disappointed!! Best taco shells I've ever had and that's saying a lot!! The food was fabulous and cheap. We would be regulars if we lived closer. Highly recommend!!
