“Great ships and submarines!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 1, 2014

Visited this museum on our early May trip to San Diego. It was well worth the price. There are several ships (including a pirate ship from one of the Pirates of the Caribbean movies) and submarines that you can visit and explore, as well as the main ship that has great exhibits inside. The Soviet submarine was so cool. For extra $5, we did a 45 min harbor cruise, which was totally worth it! I have to say a special thank you to one of the docents that we chatted with for about an hour or so (Bob Bowers?). He was so friendly and helpful. We chatted about the museum and life in SD in general. He was great! Everyone is so friendly in SD, we loved it there. This museum is highly recommended and we would go again on our next SD trip.

“Great Kid Experience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 30, 2014

We took our 8-year grandson. He loved it and we enjoyed it also. It took less than 2 hours which was a perfect time for all of us. Our grandson is into pirates and he thought the one ship was a pirate ship (it was not).

“Great museum, well laid out”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 29, 2014

We visited this museum in February 2014. The museum contains a wealth of exhibits showing the maritime history of San Diego. Well laid out, and well annotated to explain the history. A number of famous boats/yachts are on display, some of which you can visit. We also took the optional trip around the bay which gave us a good opportunity to see San Diego from the water. Our guide was very informative, and readily answered any questions. If you have a couple of hours or more to spare, we highly recommend this museum!

“Do visit this museum”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

So much to see here. With sailing ships and submarines plus a great museum. You can go over all the ships but the Russian sub has very small porthole doorways so you have to be fairly agile to get through! It was all so interesting we spent several hours here and would love to go again if we are in San Diego again.

“Maritime Museum for a reception”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 28, 2014

I attended a university reception held at this venue. It is easy to get to. The upper deck was interesting with LOTS of booths to seat people for conversations. The back deck had nice views and is a great place if the inside gets stuffy. There was lots is room just to roam and visit.
