“Top Notch Zoo in Beautiful Setting”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

San Diego's Zoo is a gem in Balboa Park. Many new exhibits with animals whose species are at risk in the wild. The Park is exactly a park. We often come in the afternoon via a pass and just walk around as it is beautiful and lush.

“Great family animal experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

My husband and I had been here before we had kids, and now were pleased to bring our kids (4, 4, and 2) to this wonderful zoo. This is the most fun zoo I've ever been to.

We brought our own stroller, and walked most of the park, took the bus tour, and then rode the skyrail at the end of the day.

Cons: Food prices.

We did buy a refillable bottle at lunch and kept refilling it with Sprite and lemonade for everyone to share. And brought our own snacks.

Wonderful zoo. Much to see, and will fill a day. Handicap friendly with buses and carts to assist visitors.

“Immaculate!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

We hadn't been to the zoo in almost 20 years. They have clearly upgraded the zoo. The zoo was so clean not only for the humans but for the animals as well. The best way to see the animals is by walking to the exhibits instead of on the tram but be prepared to walk and walk and walk. The paths can be very hilly at times but the sights are worth it. Some of the animals were hard to see because they were asleep behind rocks and bushes. But I was glad that their enclosures looked as natural as possible. The souvenirs and food were reasonably priced considering the prices we pay at Disneyland. My favorite animals were the eagles, the meerkats, and the polar bears.

“One of the best zoo's around”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2012

Well maintained zoo with great viewing of a large variety of animals. Get there early and start in the valley area with the elephants and such; it gets rather warm later in the day.
Double decker bus was a nice way to relax after a few hours of walking. The line for the skyway was long at the zoo entrance area but short on the other side. If you just want a one way ride, try to catch it on the far end.
