I needed a basic hotel to stop overnight while traveling with two new rescue dogs. I found this hotel took pets at a very reasonable additional rate ($8). The layout of the hotel is also that all the room doors access the parking lot so it's easy to get the dogs in and out of the room periodially, without having to negotiate hallways and elevators. When I arrived they check-in staff were very friendly. The room was adequate. The hotel has seen its better days but at the discount rate I paid, everything in the room worked and it was perfect for what I needed.

The next morning I was about 20 minutes late to the provided breakfast. The staff was just beginning to tear-down the breakfast but stopped and told me to get what I wanted before they continued. I found this to be very friendly and their consideration impressed me. Check-out was equally friendly. They even waived the nightly rate for the 2nd dog (yes, I disclosed I had two of them).

All-in-all, my experience here actually exceeded my expectations, considering the rate and age of the hotel. I would stay here again and would recommend it for the budget conscious traveler.

My wife, mother in law, myself and our little pug were driving from minnesota to arizona. we had bought a car and on the way down, found out we had no air conditioning. needless to say we drove as far as we could. we stopped at 3 other hotels before we found this econo lodge that took dogs. i have been in hotels from south american, mexico, bermuda and throughout the USA.
this hotel had some of the finest personal service i have experienced anywhere. they were so helpful, kind, courteous and personable. the accomadations weren't the ritz-carlton but they were clean and comfortable. there was nothing fancy but i/we had no complaints about the accomodations. since we had no a/c in the car, we were going to drive at night. we told them we were going to leave about 3-4 am. we asked if there would be any coffee available then. they said typically that they make coffee about 5am with doughnuts, pastries, etc. but they said,
"no problem" we will be happy to have fresh coffee for you. and they indeed did have fresh coffee, orange juice (icy cold), and some pastries when we left at about 4am. so i just want to say that i have no reservations in recommending this hotel/motel for anyone that wants very reasonably priced lodging and personable, friendly and extremely helpful people. so thank you all that dealt with us on a road trip that was horrible, but yet you all gave us an experience that helped us make it bearable.....

We were on a cross-country drive and wanted to find places that were affordable yet decent. The Econo Lodge in Topeka certainly exceeded our expectations, and we were thrilled.

The hotel is conveniently located and easy to find. It's just down the road from a Wal-Mart, so if you need to pick up last-minute supplies, it's easy to do. We were greeted by an incredibly friendly and helpful member of the staff, who took the time to review the map of Topeka and make suggestions for our brief stay (the hotel is conveniently located in reference to downtown Topeka). She pointed us towards an excellent and extremely close restaurant, The Blind Tiger. The lobby was spacious and clean, and looked like it had just undergone a renovation. Already we could tell that this hotel was better than your average Econo Lodge.

I was a little wary of the outside hotel doors (the doors to the rooms face the parking lot, not an interior hallway), but the presence of several security cameras made me feel a little better about our safety. The area around the hotel seemed safe enough; it was near civilization, but not SO near that I was afraid of strangers walking past our door in the middle of the night.

The room itself was surprisingly nice. Again, it looked like it had been recently renovated (although I think they were still working on the bathroom... nothing bad, it just looked dated compared to the rest of the room). The room was very clean, the bed was comfortable, and we had plenty of pillows. We kept saying to each other, "I can't believe how nice this place is!"

Overall, we were impressed with our stay here, and would stay again if we ever find ourselves passing through Topeka.

I made my reservation well in advance because of the convenient location to the Kansas Expocentre (straight up Topeka Ave. to the north, less than 5 minutes). I told the desk clerk I was bringing a dog. She said she would be sure to get us on the ground floor. Check in was smooth and I did get a room on the ground floor with a micro and fridge. The room was clean, furniture an interesting style, but appeared fairly new. I got a good night's sleep all 4 nights. Good grassy area to walk your dog. A number of restaurants are easily found and not far from the motel. For a 2 star hotel, not bad at all. I'll go back every time I show my dog at the Exprocentre.
