“Allow yourself plenty of time”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 1, 2013

This is a great chronicle of Kansas, all the way from about 5,000 years ago to the 1980's. It is well-displayed and has interactive elements for kids. We only had 1 and 3/4 hours until closing time but I could have easily spent another hour there. Unfortunately the cost for adults is $8 and there is no senior citizen or local resident discount. I will certainly be visiting again.

“Very interesting, well displayed exhibits”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 29, 2012

This museum is a hidden gem. It is large and has interesting permanent exhibits, as well as special exhibits. Organized chronologically, it tells much about the history of the Midwest. Children will enjoy climbing aboard a genuine, old passenger train with multiple cars to walk through and an old-fashioned soda fountain.

Nice small museum, great for kids down to toddler age as there are age appropriate exhibits and play areas.

“Nice museum”

Nice museum, have been here several times and always enjoy the featured theme, last visit was "hats" which was fun. The gift shop always has neat things to purchase also.

“continuous improvement”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 21, 2012

Visiting this museum again after having been there in the 90s, I found that even though many of the exhibits were the same, they'd been improved with interactive educational displays. I especially appreciated the native american displays and the frontier displays. Children will love the train which has many cars open for walking through. The Civil War displays are quite good but most people seemed to enjoy the stroll through the decades - especially those who lived through them and now they are "history".
