“Nice stay with good breakfast”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 20, 2012

We stayed at this hotel while visiting for a family wedding. We had several rooms booked for various family members. We all found the hotel to be clean and comfortable. The breakfast was good, and it helped us out with time constraints in the mornings. The hot tub and pool were also handy. Plenty of chlorine! Overall, we had a good stay, and have another family wedding coming up in June. The whole family plans to stay at this location once again.

Room Tip: We were upstairs toward the left end (if looking from the front of the hotel) and had no problems wi...

We are so glad that you enjoyed the new Bistro and the variety of healthy breakfast options. We have recieved a lot of positive feedback about the overall look and quality of the new lobby space and we are so excited to be the only ones like it in town. We look forward to seeing you in June, and I think we might even have new seasonal menu items that you should look for while here! Thanks again!

The focal point of this hotel is the lobby. The design is modern and well thought out. There is a Starbucks in the lobby that I frequented for breakfast. The coffee was fantastic and the oatmeal was delicious. The furniture is very nice and comfortable. No need to get out to hunt a better breakfast option. There is a big flat touch screen that provides weather, news, and other information. The staff was very friendly and provided input on good local restaurants for dinner. The room was very clean and comfortable.

We are so lucky to have the new Bistro! We are so happy that you enjoyed the great Starbucks offerings and the GoBoard. It is so awesome that you can check inbound and outbound flights from KCI, check the weather of where your going next, and get the days headlines all on a huge touchscreen in the middle of the lobby!

I am so fortunate to have a good front desk staff that are all local and know the great places to eat and relax if you aren't already doing so in our Bistro.

See you next time!

We really couln't ask for a better location. Aside from our great new dinner options and breakfast options in our Bistro, we are centrally located to all the great shopping in dining that Topeka offers. Thank you for taking time to acknowledge us and we hope to see you in the future!

This Marriott was under construction (remodeling) but the staff went out of their way to accommodate for the inconvenience. The restaurant was closed so they provided a complimentary breakfast. The gym was closed but guests could go to a nearby club, free. Rooms were well kept and comfortable as one expects at a Courtyard. Staff were great. Several dining options and a mall were nearby.

I'm so glad to hear that my staff took care of you!! I will definitely make sure they all know what a great job they are doing. We appreciate your patience while things were a little messy. The remodel is complete and the lobby looks fantastic! We hope to see you the next time you are in town so you can try the Bistro for dinner and hang out in one of our fabulous media pods.

This hotel was undergoing extensive lobby renovation at the time of our visit (10/15/2011). Aside from that, the location was conveniet to a great many dining locations as well a a large shopping mall. Rooms were very clean and well maintained.

I appreciate you taking time out of your busy schedule to compliment our property. Our remodel is complete and I hope when you are passing through in the future you will come back and check it out. I will also let my housekeeping staff know to keep up the good work!

2 of 5 stars Reviewed October 2, 2011

I have my favorite hotel "chains" for business travel and for me, Marriott has become synonymous with a certain experience. With Court Yard's you can count on certain things as will all various Marriott's. Cleanliness is a big consideration for me and because Marriott's generally have a high cleanliness standard I stay at them a lot.

For that reason and some others this hotel is getting a poor. It is simply not up to the Marriott standard in cleanliness, in the staff, or the efficiency.

First Impression: Walked in late after a day of business travel going from one hotel to the next hotel. The clerk was a bit ragamuffin and did not appear "professional." I thought, well, its the night clerk...so no biggie. But, except for one employee the staff looked as dumped out of the bag as most of the hotel. It was like an era of professionalism in look and appearance was missing and it would, in my estimation, transfer to the hotel.

The floors, carpets, etc. are NOT just dated...they are DIRTY. I am going to upload pictures, but there is filth just collected in the corners. It was nothing a good vacuming and cleaning wouldn't fix, but it was like that for my entire stay and you could tell it had been that way and taken a while to get that way.

The Room: A giant stain on the chair made me uncomfortable sitting on it as I was uncertain if I was dealing with a bowel movement or a coffee stain. It looked as if it was left and no attempt was made to ever clean it. The coffee maker had been left with water in it and it had been that way for so long some scum had started to grow in it.

The bed sheets were clean, pillows were comfortable and the bathroom was tidy and not too bad.

The hallways were loud and busy with children yelling uncontrolled and a drunk man screaming about some sporting event. Not a big deal, but it was continual and no one from the staff made any effort to subdue it. The front door of the room had a huge gap all the way around the door and let a ton of light in. The currents were broken and would not slide.

The breakfast staff were equally as ragamuffin as the hotel crew and the tables and such were dirty and ill repaired.

The overall experience communicates: We don't care and we don't have good management.

Room Tip: Go to the Hyatt. Its newer, cleaner and better managed.

I would first off like to apologize for the unacceptable conditions that you found yourself in while staying with us. We have addressed all of your concerns with the staff and with all the cleanliness issues so this doesn't happen again. We are definitely on the right track to strive and maintain the standard that Marriott has for us on a daily basis. We hope that if you are ever back in Topeka, you will feel that you can give us another try as we have made many improvements in the last 6 months with the remodel of our lobby. Thank you for taking time to tell us about the problems and inconveniences you faced so we could address them accordingly.

Sincerely,
Stephanie Gassen
Assistant General Manager

5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 28, 2011

My wife and I recently spent the weekend away from home by checking in to the Courtyard by Marriot. We were THRILLED with the experience. We were met by Sarah at the front desk who was so cheerful and professional. All of the "Yes sir" and "Mister and Misses" reference showed a great deal of respect.
The room was excellent. It was clean (which was done by a group of "Special" workers called the TARC Team) and was roomy. We stayed on the 3rd floor and had a wonderful view from the balcony.
The indoor pool and hot tub were clean and well maintained with plenty of towels available. I am pleased to recommend the hotel and am looking forward to another get-away!
