“Ok option for a visit to Boston by car”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 30, 2014

I chose this hotel because we were driving up from Cape Cod and wanted a place where we could park for a reasonable rate and be close to the T. The rooms are nicely decorated and comfortable. We had no issues but we didn't spend much time at the hotel. It has no real amenities - not even a restaurant, just a counter service. Also note that there aren't any close by restaurants. I didn't use the shuttle as the T is maybe 3 blocks away - 4 stops on the Red Line to Downtown Crossing. In comparing this to staying in Boston proper where you would pay at least $48 a night just to park (compared to $12 here), I think it was a good deal. If I were flying or taking Amtrak I would probably stay in town.

Had to deal with a fire alarm and a staff not equipped to handle it. As others mentioned it does not offer a regular shuttle, but you can jump on the subway easily. They also want to charge you for overnight parking. The hotel is in Dorchester, not downtown, they need to deliver more for the rates they charge.

What supposed to be a regular overnight stay before flying back home turned out to be anything but. At about 10 pm, the alarm started blaring, so the entire hotel got evacuated (good it was not in the middle of Boston winter). The problem turned out to be a bursted water line on the ground floor and the effect limited to a puddle in the lobby, yet all the tired and disheveled people, some in their PJs, had to stay outside for no apparent reason. We were let back into our rooms closer to midnight, not a word of apology from the hotel staff, neither then, nor in the morning at checkout. Here goes one point off for this property.
This hotel bills itself as close to Boston Logan airport and provides shuttle service. Close as it may be, the shuttle runs only once an hour, make stops at places like Amtrak, and has limited space, so if you were not be able to sign up for the time you needed, you have to go an hour earlier (if available) or take a cab. Expect the ride to take up to 45 minutes. It can also take up to an hour at the airport to be picked up by this shuttle. Here goes another point.
This Doubletree does not have a breakfast buffet, but a cafeteria style deli counter, so the choices are limited and the service is slow. If you are an HHonors member and have a breakfast voucher, there is a dollar limit to what it will cover. No coffee in the lobby in the am.
Aside from the that, just a typical Doubletree. The beds are comfortable and staff is polite. Just beware of the quirks I mentioned earlier.

Food service limited, but what was available was excellent. Very friendly staff. Not the most convenient location, even though in walking distance to the subway; just not a lot of nearby amenities. Advertised as within walking distance to JFK Library & Museum, but it's a bit of a hike.

Very friendly staff. Nice clean room. Close to JFK/UMass subway stop. Had everything we needed. The warm cookies at check in were a nice touch. No other extras though. Was very pleased with this hotel and it's staff. No complaints.

Just spent a week at this hotel & it was wonderful ! The entire staff (from the front desk to kitchen staff to house cleaning to shuttle drivers) was extremely friendly, nice & helpful with everything we needed. Very clean rooms & we were allowed to check in early. Hotel is only a couple of blocks from the subway so bought a 7 day ticket for $18 - much cheaper than cab fare &/or parking. Getting around Boston was a snap. Used the hotel shuttle from & to the airport & was on time. Hotel shuttle will also take you to their sister hotel downtown. Food was good & had a nice lounge. Hotel is close to a grocery/liquor store too. Felt extremely safe & will stay here again. Highly recommend this hotel !

Fantastic customer service and convenient to the red line which can get you anywhere in Boston quickly. Easy shuttle to south station. Food at the hotel is quite good. Wonderful jogging path nearby around UMass. Super deal for the price. Super clean rooms!
