“Outdated hotel”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 20, 2013 via mobile

This hotel was incredibly outdated. I couldn't decide if the bathroom was dirty or just old. No AC- there is a "fan" that is loud and noisy but doesn't actually do anything. Great location, steps away from the T and the Prudential Center. $25/night parking in a garage.

Perfect location! Close to Fenway and the prudential. Fine dining located no matter which direction you head in. Room was clean, and staff was fantastic. Would highly recommend this hotel for your next trip to Boston.

Went with friends to Boston for Paul McCartney concert at Fenway and the Midtown was perfect location .... a short walk to the park with a lot of great sites and restaurants in-between. The room was clean and spacious, and the staff was very friendly to out-of-towners who needed directions and other info. If you're going to Boston to sit in your hotel room, then you'll want to find a fancier place. But if you want to go sightseeing and be in the heart of the city, then this is the place to go.

My husband, son (9 months old) and I stayed in the hotel during our vacation to Boston. This was the first time we had ever been to Boston, so I picked the hotel based on price/location. We were extrememly happy with the decision! Priced much lower than the surrounding hotels, this hotel still offers a great location - just one block away from the Prudential Center, which has a T station as well as tons of restaurants and shopping. By being so close to the T station, we did not have to drive anywhere in the city during our stay. Park is $22 a day, but none of the hotels in the area offer free parking. The pool was very nice and well-kept, perfect for an afternoon dip. The rooms are a bit dated, but again, this hotel is MUCH less expensive than nearby hotels. The room was clean. They gave us a crib at no charge (many hotels charge) and all of the employees were extremely nice, offering directions to all of our destinations. My only complaint is a $5 a day charge for a frige - I think these should be complimentary. We would definitely stay here again!

I have stayed at the Midtown Hotel several times over the past decade and have never been disappointed. It's a 15-minute walk from Fenway Park, and the Prudential Center (with a great mall/food court on the first floor) is two blocks away. There's also a great breakfast place (Thornton's) one block away. You can eat inside or outside. The Midtown is clean, the staff and friendly and professional. There's a very nice, clean inground pool. The parking lot is connected to the lobby and is covered. I always say "The Midtown gets the job done." It's not the fanciest hotel in Boston, but if you want a bright, clean, spacious room and a knowledgeable staff to guide you through Boston, the Midtown is the place to stay. We will be back. It's a hidden jewel in Boston for couples and families.

Very run down and retro the retro part is not a good thing. The pool was out of order for a while. Not happy with the workers as well. Please don't stay here if you have the choice. The one plus is the location it is bye the northeastern campus which is nice.

Stayed at the Midtown recently with some friends. Location is very good, and not having to pay for parking is a plus, but everything else is average or bad. Our bathroom had a strong odor of pet urine, the temperature control for the room didn't work, and I was very skeptical about the strength of the lock on the door. Front desk folks were friendly and helpful. Price is decent only given the location - other hotels in the area are much, much pricier - but in terms of amenities and such, it is a rip-off. Rooms are very dated, although the storage space is good - lots of drawers, decent closet. Using the wi-fi requires a separate charge.

While I would stay here again with friends, I would not stay here alone. I also would caution that while I am willing to stay here, I think most people would find the place worn-down and the atmosphere slightly grungy.
