I lucked out when I booked a mystery 4 Star hotel in the heart of Copley Place on an online booking site. The Taj Boston was truly a marvelous place to stay. Impeccable service, large beautiful room and a location you can't beat.
The service was impeccable from the moment we checked in. The concierge was very friendly and knowledgable and offered great tips. The room itself was truly amazing. I seriously thought we must have mistakenly be given a suite. (which was great since we were celebrating my boyfriend's birthday!) There was a huge four poster bed and a beautiful antique style living room set. (big couch, chair, coffee table and desk.) The bathroom featured a huge garden style tub and had a large seperate room with a sink and vanity area. They have a pillow delivery service where you can pick the style of pillow you want (free of charge!)
This location is truly to die for, too. We walked EVERYWHERE in no time at all! (to a Red Sox game, to the start of the freedom trail, to the Cheers bar--which is about a block away--to amazing shopping, even to the start of our Duck Tour.) The best part is that the hotel is behind the park, right where the swan boats are. So you are right by everything but you still have a nice view of trees and don't have the feeling that you're just surrounded by corporations.
The hotel is a little pricey but not that much more than other hotels in the area. If you want to splurge a little and go all out on a trip to Boston, I would highly recommend doing it at the Taj! Oh and our cab driver told us that he heard all the Yankee players stay there when they come into town... So if you're a fan of the Yanks, you'll feel right at home. :)
