I had the pleasure of staying at the Taj Boston this past September 2009, for four nights, and found the rooms to be excellent. I was located in a deluxe king in the new wing (on the corner of Commonwealth Ave. and Arlington St.), in an interior room, which had no views of which to speak, but which was quiet, quite spacious, and equipped with excellent facilities - good closet space, lots of drawer space, a modern bathroom with well-lit mirror, and a very comfortable king-sized bed.
My only quibble with the hotel is that service in the cafe for breakfast is a bit slow or seemingly somewhat disorganized - after my first breakfast there, I then tried breakfast at the Four Seasons around the corner, and for an extra dollar (for the American breakfast - $27 at the Four Seasons vs. $26 at the Taj) the service was much smoother and more efficient, and the venue much more spacious (the cafe at the Taj is pretty, but comparatively cramped - the Bristol Lounge at the FS is quite expansive).
I can wholeheartedly recommend the director of guest services at the Taj - Mr. Mehmet Kugu - a more gracious and accommodating gentleman it would be very hard to find. His attentions made my stay that much nicer.
