Stayed at the Omni from June 29 to July 5. Beautiful, historic hotel near Fanueil Hall, Freedom Trail, Boston Common/Public Garden and New England Aquarium. All sites within 5-10 minute walking distance, Beacon Hill maybe 15 minute walk. Red line T station is located at Boston Common about a 5 minute walk. Hotel check-in was quick and bellman promptly brought our bags up to our room. Elevators can be a little slow but consider that the building dates from 1855--take time to view the carving and wood work in the hotel.
We booked an executive size room with two double beds, sofa (w/foldout bed), chairs and coffee table, and small TV. Room was very clean and well kept. Beds *very* comfortable and room a good size for two adults and two teens. Tiny but efficient batthroom. Consider becoming an Omni Select Guest member--we had juice and newspaper brought to our room every morning and turn-down service in the evening. Housekeeping prompt everyday and straightened up beds and left clean towels. Wonderful room to come back to after walking all day around Boston!
We enjoyed breakfast in the Parkers restaurant which offered a buffet (eggs, sausage, cereal, oatmeal, waffles, pastries, fruit) or you can order off the menu. We also had drinks and appetizers in Parkers bar which serves until late in the evening. Food at both restaurants very good, excellent service. Lots of Dunkin' Doughnuts nearby, Starbucks (right across the street), Ruth Chris' steakhouse, and other dining choices nearby. Try Legal Seafood (at Long Wharf near the New England Aquarium) and Bertucci's (Fanueil Hall) for terrific food and service. Take the time to enjoy a meal in the North End and stop at Mike's Pastries for dessert.
Neighborhood around the Omni is safe and we felt safe walking around Boston late at night. Some homeless people around Boston Common and Downtown so would avoid those areas late at night. Consider venturing out of Boston to MinuteMan Historical Park (Lexington and Concord) and the Adams Historical Site in Quincy. You can use the Red Line T/bus 62 or 76 to get to the National Heritage Museum and use the LibertyRide (operates seasonally) to see the MinuteMan historical sites in Lexington and Concord. You can take the Red Line T to Adams Historical Site (stop at Quincy Center). See the National Park Service website for more information: [--]
Highly recommend the Omni Parker House hotel if you are looking to stay in the heart of Boston near most attractions.
