I always am concerned about older hotels in city centers - the age usually shows. Not so here - exceedingly well maintained and the room and bathroom, though tiny, we're spotlessly clean. Lots of soft fluffy towels and amenities and service of a resort. Staff is friendly and helpful. Lobby and public areas are beautiful. Fitness center is very nice and there is a business center to print boarding passes. Good electrical strip on the night stand - did not have to crawl around on the floor to charge electronics. This is where Parker House rolls and Boston Cream Pie originated. The warm, buttery Parker House rolls were almost worth the whole trip. The hotel is very near Boston Commons and the Freedom Trail, so I was able to bell check my luggage and go exploring after check out. Very nice. Location and cleanliness made up for the very tiny room.

Definitley the place to stay when visiting Boston.Ideally situated for visiting all of the sights either by foot or by cab,this hotel offers the perfect blend of class,charm and exceptional service.The staff are SUPERB nothing is too much trouble for them.The food in the bar and restaurant is great and very good value.The rooms are exactly what you would wish from this "class"of hotel,comfortable,spacious and spotlessly clean.Sign up for the hotel 'loyalty" scheme and get free wifi connection in you room and tea and coffee delivered to your room every morning free of charge,a small but very welcome bonus. We were part of a group from the U.K.visiting Boston for a wedding and everyone agreed that the hotel was great,especially those with young children who had booked family rooms. Boston is not very car friendly so if coming in by air dont pick up a hire car on arrival take a .cab to the hotel its only $20 and saves a great deal of "hassle".The airport is only10-15minutes away

I booked a room for two people in this hotel through the website of the American Physical Society: we were colleagues attending a conference. The room for two the hotel provided was instead a very tiny one with a bed that should have been at least a queen sized, but was actually just a bit bigger that a single bed: the result is that my colleague had to sleep on the floor! Extremely unpleasant and the staff was not of any help. Narrow beds have been reported also by other reviewers, as you can read on tripadvisor.

The cleaning ladies were noisy and not so gentle. But I have to admit that the negative points of the hotel end here: the location is very good, close the nice pubs and clubs. The style is old fashioned but very elegant, the room clean and the bathroom comfortable.

Stayed over thanksgiving with family. Select guest representative contacted me the week before arrival and confirmed we would have everything we needed in our suite (cribs, etc.). When we were delayed in arrival, she worked with me to ensure we'd have dinner waiting in our room (very expensive, but still nice). Location is wonderful and room price was very reasonable. The valet service is very expensive and not efficient. The hotel is very pretty and rooms are nice. Exercise room is nice for such an old hotel. Would recommend.
