“Excellent Staff; Great Neighborhood”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2013

When staying in an unfamiliar city, I'm always leery of the surroundings and safety. With the Chandler Inn this is not a concern.
After a long day of sight seeing and taking the "T" to Cambridge, we walked back from the Back Bay station to the hotel, about four blocks. Along the way we stopped for dinner at a local restaurant and then continued to the hotel, never feeling uncomfortable or threatened. The hotel is in a vibrant neighborhood with lots of bars and restaurants nearby, and blocks of beautiful row houses on tree-lined streets. One word of caution: next door to the Chandler Inn is a nice looking bar that my wife and I nearly went in to for a nightcap, until we realized it is a gay bar. Not an issue with us BUT we would have been a bit embarrassed if we had gone in!
The staff at the Chandler was a tremendous resource for local advice, very helpful and encouraging. The room itself was very well decorated in a contemporary style, but being a "boutique" hotel, it was quite small. The bathroom was so small you could nearly sit on the toilet and wash your hands at the same time. The shower, however, was a comfortably large size and all amenities offered were of high quality. The room itself was quiet and very comfortable.
If I were to visit Boston again, would I stay there? Without hesitation.

The hotel staff was very friendly, eager to make our stay a great one, and they did. We stayed in both the Chandler Inn and the Chandler studios, we were three but booked a room with two twin beds by mistake. They worked things around although pretty much all was booked and we were able to get another room with two full beds, in the studios. They were nice enough to accommodate us with a small discount in the studio and it was greatly appreciated. We were walking distance to pretty much all the places we wanted to visit, Boylston street, Fenway Park, the Freedom trail and much more, we took the subway not far from the Hotel for a small ride to Harvard University. We even had a drink in the Hotels friendly bar. We would recommend the Chandler Inn to everyone.

We stayed here for two nights. Very clean and the staff was very nice. They were dog friendly which is a big deal cuz my dog comes everywhere with me. Hotel was very nicely decorated. Little bathroom but to be expected in the city. Great location. Will stay again for sure:) loved the free bottle water for my mutt! Nice touch:)

I was a little bit apprehensive prior to my stay here. I usually go for a hotel that has a pool and fitness center etc but the location pf this hotel definitely makes up for the lack of amenities. The room is pretty small but I was actually expecting it to be even smaller than it actually was based on the reviews from this site. For those that try to exercise everyday, some sit ups/squats/push ups are definitely doable in this room. Also, if you have to refrigerate anything there is a communal mini-fridge down in the lobby where the coffee and ice is (I didn't use it but I would have had I known about it prior to travel). As much as I saw, there were always two staff members sitting at the front desk at all times (I found this very impressive for such a small hotel!). It was very quiet and comfortable in the room- the air conditioning worked like a charm and we didn't hear any disturbing outside noise (please note, this is coming from a New Yorker who lives literally in front of a train station). The neighborhood is great! There is a gay sports bar next door that has an amazing brunch on the weekends (definitely THE BEST meal we had during our stay!). One of the bouncers was extremely helpful when I came up to him asking if they served dinner...he helped us find a great place a few blocks away that met my dietary needs. There are also two breakfast/lunch places around the corner that are both pretty good. We literally walked everywhere we wanted to visit with little to no problem from the hotel (please note once again, two New Yorkers in their mid 20s). I would definitely come to this hotel again if I were to go on another trip to Boston.

The pictures you see on their web page are very accurate at setting the right expectations. You will get what you see, recently renovated clean rooms which are a little small but nicely decorated. We definitely loved the location of the hotel: 7 mins away from back bay and arlington stations, 15 mins away from Copley.
There is a coffee machine at the lobby, ice is alo available. Two small complementary water bottles are left in the room everyday.
One tip for the room service: please do not leave the long decorative pillow on the bed after you change the linens. I'd love to use clean pillows.

Room Tip: The Berkeley street is crowded during the day and quiet during the night. You may still want a room...

Hotel is well located, in a quiet area, bur within walking distance from the center and main shopping areas. The staff is very friendly and helpful.
The rooms are very clean and with a nice modern decor, but not very big (our had no closet) and the bathroom is very small.
As prices go, we found it to be a good choice.

The room was remodeled and much more soundproof since my last visit, and the staff on all shifts were friendly and very helpful. The T station is only 2 blocks away, which matters to me. The cost is reasonable given the good location.
