“Eggplant & Peppers w/ Mushrooms & Cheese”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

I generally go for chicken or turkey...but a friend of mine suggested I try the Eggplant & Peppers w/ Mushrooms & Cheese.
I was not disappointed. It was one of the best sandwiches I have had. Crip bread, eggplant, pepper and mushroom cooked but not over cooked....filling..enough for a lunch and a refreshing walk back to the office.
A little pricey...but worth every penny.

“Decadent Sandwiches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 25, 2013

This place can be a bit of a madhouse at times--but that is all part of the fun, I think! Join the line at the counter, shout out your order and make your way towards the cash--by the time you get there and choose your beverage, the sandwich (with all the fixings) will have appeared before you manage to pay. $10-15 might seem a bit pricey for a sandwich, but these are enormous, delicious creations piled high with meat and cheese and veggies. I had the Roast Beef and Blue (cheese) while my partner had the Tuna Melt. Grabbed a table by the window and dug in...so amazingly good! You might want to swing by at a slightly off time (we were there at 1:15/1:30 and quite easily found a seat), but I imagine it would be even more crazy at noon.

“great sandwiches”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 19, 2013

I used to order from LaGrassa's a lot for lunch when I worked near downtown crossing. Their sandwiches are great. The chicken parm is absolutely amazing, but then again all of their sandwiches are. They're a little on the pricey side for sandwiches but they are worth it.

“Mountain of Meat on the Bread!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 17, 2013

Located right around the corner from the Omni Parker House Hotel, we have walked by this shop more than 1000 times. Finally, we stopped in on a cold afternoon; and there must have been 75 folks inside either sitting/eating, waiting for a sandwich, or on line to order. Within 4 minutes, we were ordering our TO-GO choices: Roast Beef on Sourdough and Chicken Parmesean sandwiches. Our sandwiches were made by the time we hit the register to pay. This place knows how to get folks in and out in a flash. Later that afternoon, we were having a picnic with these giganitic sandwiches.... the roast beef was so flavorable and the chicken parm was juicy... Now we know that this place knows how to make a sandwich. Head in, you won't be disappointed.

“this is a classic case of an old institution that got left behind”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed February 16, 2013

Sam Lagrassas is an institution among office workers and construction workers in Boston. I cannot see why as the sandwiches are expensive, the pickles are dead, the bread is pappy and the place is crowded and fetid.

There are way better places to eat lunch in this part of Boston and for two thirds of the price. This is a great example of a Boston institution that is way past its sell-by date.

Try Al's on State Street or Panera Bread. Anywhere in fact will beat this.
