“Excellent pub!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 28, 2013

If looks could be deceiving, this place was it! It is a little hole in the wall place that you could easily walk by and not give a second thought. This place was recommended to us by the bellman at the Intercontinental Hotel and it was great! The drinks were strong, the atmosphere was cozy and the staff were very attentive. The sweet potato fries with the vanilla bourbon sauce was AMAZING!

“Best Drinks in Downtown Boston & Food Isn't Bad Either”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 14, 2013

Located in the "Theater District" (once the Combat Zone), Intermission Tavern underwent a make-over much like the whole neighborhood several years ago. It's not hoity-toity like Ritz a few blocks away, or the W down on the corner of Stuart and Tremont, but it's not the dive that the Tam is next door.

First of all, the drinks are large, cold, well prepared and reasonably priced. That gets them five-stars. Second, the kitchen does a solid job with pub grub. The ribs may not be from Texas or North Carolina, but the meat is well flavored and smokey. The fish and chips offers a generous portion of haddock and good fries. The onion rings are super crispy and delicious.

The decor is not much to look at and the kitchen can smoke the place up a bit when it gets busy. Because of its proximity to various theaters within a few blocks it can get very busy with the pre-show crowd. But for excellent drinks, friendly service and decent food, the Intermission can't be beat.

“Local feel, home-cooked flavors!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

Stopped in here for an early dinner after a movie @ the big Loews 19 theater 1 block north & was super-impressed!! The bartender was the only waitperson on duty, but she gave us friendly, personal service!! And the sweet potato fries, mac & cheese, and 'shroom burger were terrific! Good value in Center City !

“Good Food, Good Service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 3, 2013

Stopped here late night after a Red Sox game. Located in the Theater District, it has a great mix of young and middle aged patrons. The youngun's don't talk much because they are too busy texting. Funny to see a table full of people, all texting and not conversing. Well, anyway, the food and service is good and efficient.

“A great place to hang out for a beer.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 13, 2013 via mobile

The place is a tavern so obviously it has a more bar like feel to it. I went in expecting the typical bar food a was pleasantly suprised when my salad looked like something from a fiver star joint! Better actually because it was huge in portion! The buffalo mozzerella and the chicken were delectible and the ranch dressing was nice and creamy. Pj the barteder was fabulous and gave me so many recommendations of places to see and to eat at. Very friendly staff. Will definitely visit again if I'm ever back.
