“A great hotel and greater location!!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 7, 2011

First time at Best Western was to see colleges. The entire staff welcomed us and made us feel very comfortable. They gave us many pointers on where to go and what to do!!! The rooms were all clean, neat , and plenty of towels. Any questions we had were quickly answered. Having the resturants downstairs(never having to leave if we didn't want to) was WONDERFUL!!! Even Dunkin Donuts and CVS were located downstairs. Again centrally located to all the sites. If you wanted to walk you could - to Fenway, musuems, etc. JUST A GREAT HOTEL!!!!

I stayed in a single room here one night to avoid driving into Dana Farber in a snowstorm. The room was clean & comfortable and I appreciated the medical rate. The continental breakfast was excellent.

It was difficult to sleep, however, because of poor sound-proofing. The ice machine and bottled drink machine were just outside my door and very loud. I could also hear the details of conversations coming from the hall & adjoining room. There was a major room renovation going on a few doors down the hall with power tools and hammering going on from 9am-5:30pm.

I got my dinner from the Bertucci's Restaurant which is about half a block away, across the street from the entrance to the Children's Hospital garage. They have an extensive take-out menu and I heard them on the phone arranging for a delivery, so it would be worth asking if they deliver to the hotel.

Dana Farber patients can park overnight in the Dana Farber garage for $12. (Patient card required.)

When faced with the need to be present for a gravely ill son, I was amazed and delighted to find that the Inn is directly across the street from the hospital, offering also garage parking. Special bonuses ( free continental breakfast; 15% off dinner at hotel) available for hospital families. We used both; food quite extraordinarily wonderful! Service from ALL hotel staff was exemplary; friendly, very forthcoming and helpful; smiling; eager to assist in any way. Room was beautiful; view of downtown Boston; all amenities; immaculate. And small touches like a nightlight as part of the provided hairdryer...We were really cherished guests and have already raved to many about the Inn at Longwood Medical. Bravo Best Western!

We stay here every few months when I have a checkup at Dana Farber. Hospital visits are so stressful, it is great to have a place to stay where we know we will be able to relax. Parking is easy, and we don't have to move the car to go to the hospital -- just walk down the street.
Patients and their famiiies: Make sure to ask for the medical rate, and then bring some form from your doctor (such as appointment confirmation mailing) to document it.

Rooms are clean -- important for the immune-suppressed -- and comfortable.

Discount at the restaurant in the same building is nice, though the restaurant , while adequate, is much less attentive than the hotel.

This hotel is the most convenient if you need to be at any of the hospitals in the Longwood area; I needed to be near Brigham & Womens Hospital. The room was clean, adequately sized and surprised to get a King when I expected a Queen sized bed. Bathroom was adequate, although a little small. My family stayed hear for four days in Dec. 2010, while I was in surgery and felt comforable and they were very helpful with their needs.

If you or family are receiving treatment at one of the area hospitals, the location can not beat.

However, the hotel was a nightmare to deal with. Booked a stay of over a week while a family member was having surgery at Children's. We were advised to book based on our longest projection and that we could check out early if there was an early discharge. This was confirmed verbally when the reservation was made, at check-in, and at check-out, as well as in writing.

The hotel ended up booking us for nearly an extra week, despite advising the hotel 3 times that we were checking out both via phone and the front desk. They repeatedly refused to correct the problem and forced us to chargeback the additional nights.

Other thoughts...

Pros

* Room was fairly large
* Location can't be beat for visiting the area hospitals

Cons

* Hotel Hallways are kept very dark
* Non-Smoking floor constantly reeked of smoke
* Water pressure in the shower was extremely week
* Attached restaurant was poor

Stayed December 2010
