“DIFFERENT ITALIAN DINING EXPERIENCE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 23, 2013

Italian dining in Boston usually means the North End with hideous parking experiences. Rustic Kitchen is located in Park Square and has valet aprking at the door (a big plus for someone who needs a cane). Four of us had dinner at 8 PM, and this was my first visit. The food was marvelous, especially the beet salad, with goat cheese, walmuts and lots of beet and salad greens. I had the petit filet, which was done perfectly. The server was excellent and very attentive.

“Horrible food. Don't go”

Food was horrible cold with no flavour. The staff seemed bored stiff. Don't go there. Go to paramount on Charles Street

“Wonderful food and service!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

My sister was in town for a short trip staying at the Park Plaza. Based on reviews I read here and proximity to the hotel, Rustic Kitchen seemed the perfect place for a special meal that wouldn't break the bank. It did not disappoint! Our server, Monica, was fantastic. She gave us great recommendations that were just right for a fall meal and was attentive without being overbearing. We also met the owner, Jim, who is very nice and obviously enthusiastic about his restaurant. His passion is evident in the food and service.
I started with the burrata appetizer. It could have been a meal! Lightly breaded and delicious eggplant, crostini, and a large portion of creamy and tasty cheese over a bed of greens. My sister had the grilled pear salad which looked lovely and she really enjoyed it.
For the main course, we both had the butternut squash ravioli. I swore after the burrata that I couldn't eat much more, yet I managed to clean my plate. It has a sweetness that is not overpowering and a great fresh squash flavor that is so good for this season.
The restaurant also films The Cooking Show on Friday nights which won a New England Emmy. I'll have to return with a group of friends to check it out.
If you are looking for a fun and friendly restaurant with wonderful food and no pretension, definitely go to Rustic Kitchen!

“Could have been better”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 12, 2013

We were seated in a booth that was roomy and relatively quiet. The waitress was responsive but is also the reason that this rating is average and not very good. We had ordered the Calamari appetizer and we both had the Duck breast entree. The Duck was excellent, cooked to perfection, but the Chevre potatoes had little or no cheese flavor. How was the calamari you might ask and i wish I could give you an answer. The waitress forgot to place the order and never even apologized, just said that it slipped her mind and did we want it along with the duck. The desert 'Butterscotch custard' was delicious once you managed to break through the tough layer on the surface. Overall it was underwhelming and just average.

“Wonderful, Romantic, and Very Unique”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 9, 2013

Based on the name, I expected a more home style atmosphere. We were very surprised. While we felt "at home", the ambiance was very well appointed, yet comfortable. And the food was fantastic.
We began the evening with specialty martini's at the bar. Our hostess then seated us and the rest of the evening was very enjoyable.
The seafood dishes were great, the service outstanding and the dessert completed the evening.
We now know why this restaurant proudly displays it's Emmy. It truly is an award winning venue.
