We loved our king bed room with a harbour view! They upgraded us for free to a harbour view without even asking! The rooms are nicely furnished with all new amenities. Remember not to take out and even look at the mini bar since it will automatically charge your room! We had a travelzoo discount and a good weekend getaway. Also walking distance to the T and the bus station, Loved it loved it loved it! one negative is that there are no restaurants around but you can just walk to the marketplace so no big deal. Hope this helps!

I stayed at this hotel and have to say that while it's nice, it's shouldn't be rated as a five-star hotel. I've stayed in much, much better hotels. I was expecting to be impressed and, well, I wasn't.

The location is great if you want to take the T, since the Silver Station is located two blocks away.

We heard fire engines infrequently because the Boston Fire Department is located across the street. I don't know if they could do anything about that besides doing a better job of soundproofing the room. There was also a strange humming sound as well that I finally got used to after a few hours.

Our view was of the building next door, but didn't care because I was only there to sleep.

I was really irritated to find out that we were going to be charged for internet usage. This is a five-star hotel, we're paying through the nose to stay there, and they are going to charge more for this? It should be free. I've stayed in a number of three star and lower hotels all over the country, and none of them charged for what's become a basic service. I guess they know that the majority of people who will stay at this hotel will charge it to their business accounts, or that if you're rich enough to stay there, paying more for these services isn't going to be the end of the world. I just found it highly irritating.

If you go to the highly pretentious restaurant, I highly recommend having the banana bread French toast. I would NOT recommend eating the room service macaroni and cheese. The portions are large, but you are essentially paying $12 for Kraft Macaroni and Cheese.

The exercise room is excellent, and all of the cardio machines have small TVs. My only criticism is that would have been nice if they provided disinfectant to wipe down the machines after each use.

They tried to charge us for two sodas from the mini-bar during checkout. We never opened the mini-bar, so I found that to be irritating. I also gave them some mail 4:30 AM and it took four days to get to another office in the SAME town. How is that possible? Do Boston post offices have serious trouble with mail service, or did the staff forget to mail it? My guess is the latter.

I stayed at the Intercontinental for 5 nights in May while attending a conference. It is convenient to financial district, the Boston Convention Center, and the South Street train station is within a couple hundred yards, so it is easy to hop on the T and get any where in the city. The hotel is nicely decorated inside and out. The rooms are classy with a 37" LCD TV, work area, and a great marble bathroom with a soaking tub and separate shower. The hotel restaurant was OK, but overpriced, but there are many great places to eat in Boston and many within a mile of the hotel. The workout room was great with many cybex weight machines, treadmills, and ellipticals. I will definitely stay here again.
