“First time experience, bit over rated”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 15, 2013

Reservation was made through open table. used this service once before, worked well for me. The restaurant called & confirmed- did not expect the long delay to our hotel so once we arrived we phoned stated we would need a few extra minutes. The restaurant was pleasant and accommodating and did not make us wait, table was what we had requested. The ambience was fair to good. I would have preferred something away from he kitchen. wait staff was excellent. Our waiter had a good sense of humor and his background knowledge of the restaurant and his knowledge with the menu was outstanding. The appetizers came in a timely manner as did our main entrées. The food was piping hot. flavor & quality was very good, portion size was good. This of course did not include your side dishes, they were a la carte. However, I did have an entree that included an appetizer, main course, side, & desert. They were for select items on the menu but one that that happened to appeal to me. Smaller portion of course, but just enough for me. bit over rated and very pricey for this restaurant. Would return.

“Nice atmosphere, but overpriced over salted mediocre food.”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 14, 2013

We chose Ruth's Chris in Boston on a recommendation from a family member. The setting in Boston's old City Hall is nice. We ate in the basement dining room which was very dark despite it being a nice sunny day. We had great service, but found the steaks and sides just OK. We started with the calamari appetizer which was overcooked and did not have much flavor. The petite filet was cooked perfectly, but smothered in butter and salt. It was a tender steak, but way too greasy and salty. The 12oz ribeye was served in the same manner. There was a vane of gristle running through the steak which was a turn off. The spinach au gratin consisted of frozen chopped spinach smothered in cheese; it was salty. The special hash browns were over salted and absolutely smothered in cheese also. One app, two entrees, two sides and four average martinis added up to $188. There are must better restaurants in Boston. If you are visiting the city, then stay away from the chains and eat at a local establishment.

“If you have to choose - pick the Ruth's Chris Steak House!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 8, 2013

On the 4th of July we went there to celebrate a birthday, and got an amazing experience. Some of us like well done steaks, and at this restaurant the steaks were fab! Not undercooked, neither overcooked. I would recommend boiled tomatoes, crispy onion rings and creamy spinach for a side. My favorite desert there is an in-house-made cheesecake. That's to die for :-). In a couple of days we went to another steak house - Grill 23, and it was just ok comparing to the Ruth's Chris Steak House [Well done rib-eye came pink inside, and when I asked them to cook it a little bit more, it came really too dark]. At the Ruth's everything is good: the food is good, the wine list is good, the atmosphere is just great.

“Excellent!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 3, 2013 via mobile

Simply put , this is both an excellent steak house with good service and a chance to eat in one of Bostons historic buildings.

We had steak and chips (fries) and despite the arrival of a mouse at someone elses table (expertly handled by the staff) had one of the best meals we've had in a long while.

“Fab place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 26, 2013

We had lunch here. Really good food. Lovely friendly service. Beautiful setting. We sat outside on the terrace but inside the restaurant was stunning and very elegant. Price isn't as high as you'd expect for a restaurant like this in a preserved amazing building.
