“Fantastic!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 9, 2006

Fantastic meal last night (6/8/06)! This restaurant is pricey, but food was delicious and service was perfect. They have definately worked out any kinks they had when they first opened, so disregard the Boston Herald review on this site. We ordered the tuna appetizer, which had a hint of wasabi in it and was the best appetizer we ordered. We also got the shrimp with a spicey tomato sauce (it comes with pieces of light, airy bread for dunking), and the fonduta (melted provolone cheese in a dish with San Marzano tomato sauce, which also comes with bread for dipping). We ordered the maccaroni with kobe meatballs as a second course, and they split it up for 5 people so we each got a meatball and some pasta...it was to die for! The pasta is homemade and the sauce is a buttery tomatoey barolo wine sauce. Several in our party wished they had ordered it as an entree. The veal milanese was crispy and came with a light salad on the side ( a nice compliment to the huge piece of veal)....some in our party ordered steak, and it tasted like it was marinated in balsamic (delicious and perfectly cooked). Be sure to order the truffle fries...thin, crispy and addictive....and the asparagus side dish was also delicious (roasted and dusted with parmesan and a creamy sauce). The portions here are a good size, so you will not be stopping for a burger on the way home. Desserts were the least special part of the meal...we ordered the semifreddo (the best of the bunch), the passion fruit crepe, the warm chocolate cake and the cannoli's. The cannoli's had an orange marmalade sauce on them...too heavy and it masked the taste of the cannoli's. All and all, pricey (roughly $160 - $180 a couple with many cocktails and wine) but delicious. Restaurant is very attractive, simple, NY chic decor, sleek and modern, and even though the dining room is cavernous, the soundproofing really muffles the noise and it is easy to hear each other over dinner, even in a packed restaurant. A great dining experience!
