“Who needs the North End when you can get it outside the city!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 18, 2013

Have you ever been to a place where you just wanted to lick your plate clean? If so, this is definitely the place. Had not been here in a while but glad to see things do not change. This is North End Italian in the little village of Roslindale. No wonder it is always packed. The food is absolutely delicious and never disappoints. The menu not only boasts authentic Italian dishes, it also has delectable steaks, duck, lamb, fish and clams. We sat at the sort of Chef's table overlooking the kitchen and this place may be small, but it packs a serious punch to the palate. The homemade Bolognese was so good, I couldn't get enough. Even the Cesar salad was excellent. Plus even better, the parking is free at the adjacent lot and the prices here are very reasonable for the amount of food you get! Not sure what any bad review is talking about with this place since I have tried most of the Italian restaurants in the city and various nationwide and this takes the cake as hands down one of the best! It is worth the trip from the city to come out to the suburbs for a nice meal!

“What Italian food SHOULD be!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 22, 2013

What can I say that others haven't already? Delfino is a great Italian restaurant. The menu is fairly standard-- expect cannelloni, carbonara, chicken puttanesca.

The service was excellent. There were at least 3 waitresses who attended our table making sure we had enough water/wine/food/bread. They were all warm and inviting, as you'd expect from this cozy neighborhood spot.

I'll admit I wasn't bowled over, given the hype this restaurant gets. This is *the* restaurant of Roslindale Village. The wait time is about 30-40 minutes every time I've gone. I think part of the reason that we're all so excited about Delfino is that so many "Italian" restaurants are terrible-- smothering food with garlic, cheese, or deep-fried ravioli (Yes, I've SEEN this abomination!) Delfino brings us back to what Italian food should be-- it's fresh, honest, and unpretentious food.

They don't take reservations. If you don't want a long wait, get there on the earlier or later side. The dinner time rush will have you waiting at least 40 minutes. They'll take your number so you can wander around Roslindale, and enjoy the little shops and boutiques while you wait.

“Top Italian Dining”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 13, 2013

In Roslindale, about 4 miles from the Italian North End is a top Italian restaurant where you savor delicacies without driving into the city. Top notch! Great appetizers and entrees. Danata, our waitress, was exceptional. She had a perfect knowledge of the menu as well as wine choices. Hot and cold appetizers, the calamari, mussels and grilled shrimp are excellent. Herb crusted tuna, open lobster ravioli, and linguini with fruite de mer rounded our menu. Not enough room for the deserts which looked great. My second time here and a perfect score each time. The restaurant is small so make reservations.

“Gem!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 9, 2013

Recently dined here with a very large group. Service was excellent. The food was really, perfect.... fresh and tastefully prepared. Although, for an Italian restaurant,it is not right in the North End but I think it would be one of the top places to eat there if it was. Tried a new beer, La Rossa and loved it. Looking forward to returning.

“Stellar Italian dining so close to home!”

Consistently high quality, simple, delicious food worth the price. Every meal we've had here was delicious and we'd order again. Possibly the best calamari I've ever had!
