“Pretty good food, good service, okay atmosphere”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 14, 2012

We went here to grab some dinner with another couple. The food was good, pretty standard Italian food but I would say it was slightly above average. The server was great, he had suggestions and was very attentive. The atmosphere in the dining room was nice but we were sat at a not so great table. The table was right near the doorway into the bar so there was a lot of foot traffic which was somewhat distracting. If we had a better table I would have given this review a 5.

“Excellent Choice in the North End”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 11, 2012

We were a large group of 11 adults in town for a repeat visit and were ready to try something new in the North End. We got a reservation for Saturday evening at Artu with the caveat they may have to separate us into two different tables. We agreed; knowing the size limitations of most restaurants in the area but in the end we waited a few extra minutes in their comfortable bar area and they put us at one long, large table. I noticed right away that we had plenty of elbow room and were not crowded in with the diners around us.

We had an excellent meal including several appetizers, wine, and entrees. No desserts were ordered because we all enjoyed our entrees and were quite full. I don't think I heard a complaint from anyone at the table and this can be a tough group!

The menu has traditional fare on it as well as some more innovative dishes. Service was outstanding and we all left looking forward to returning again in the future when our travels take us back to Boston.

“Cozy bistro in Beacon Hill, serving simple but wonderful Italian food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 3, 2012

Tiny hole-in-the-wall type place in Beacon Hill, offers a somewhat limited menu, but what they have they do quite well. The fare is always wonderful, and the prices are extremely reasonable. The atmosphere is warm and cozy (it is a few steps down from street level, and there is a gorgeous, fireplace, though I'm not sure if it works, as there was never a fire lit on any of the times I've been there), and it would be a terrific venue to go on a date, or a great place to dine with friends; probably not recommended for those with children.

“Real Northern Italian Food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 2, 2012 via mobile

It is really simple italian food. Not complicated but good. Not expensive and service was great. They try to make you feel happy. If your in the mood for home simple italian food this is the place. The cook is not accomodating at all. So plan to eat straight from the menu

“I really wanted to like this place more...”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 24, 2012

First off, the service here was great. We called for a reservation and the host could not have been nicer. Our waiter was great and made good wine pairing recommendations. They are friendly, courteous, and all around good people. I really like the staff.

However, the food is average at best. The ambiance is bland. We tried the calamari, Carbonara, and Chicken "Artu" and I wouldn't try any of them again. Maybe we missed a great dish? This place was recommended to us by a friend when we told them we wanted an authentic meal like we had when we spent two weeks in Italy, this was not the place. I'm sorry to the staff but I can't recommend.
