Last Saturday we wanted a nice night out and had heard some great things about Porto Bello. We live in Southie so it's right up the street from us. They don't take reservations and it's pretty small (maybe 15 tables?) so we were ready for a wait. Thankfully, when we arrived we got seated right away at the only two top available. We did notice that tables become open pretty quickly after we were seated so I'm sure the wait wouldn't have been too long.
We got a bottle of white wine, a cheap pino, which tasted great and fit out budget. We didn't get an app, but they give some french bread and butter and there is a bottle of seasoned olive oil on the table. Our waitress gave us a second helping.
I ordered the chicken, broccolli, and ziti and it was fantastic! The garlic cream sauce wasn't too heavy (great on the stomach) and the chicken and broccolli were perfectly cooked, as was the pasta. Just enough of a portion although I probably could have taken some home. My boyfriend got the tortellini alfredo with proscutto and peas (? can't remember the veg) and it was also great. Same light sauce, just enough! Afterwards we got a single chocolate chip canoli which was the perfect sized sweet for a filling pasta dinner.
The meal was about $80 with tip and wine so not terrible! Most entrees were from $10-$15, and some in the $15-$20 range. It has the same feel like you're in the North End and we had a great time! I would definitely go here again!
