“A saloon with a view in Chestnut Hill Mall”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 29, 2012

We stumbled upon the Charley's Eating & Drinking Saloon while strolling thru the Chestnut Hill Mall. It seems they opened this location in addition to the one on Newbury Street.

The interior was inviting and we enjoyed our stay during lunch. The food was good and service was efficient and courteous.

“We Never Miss a Chance to Dine at Charley's”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 19, 2012

This is definitely our go-to restaurant when we're in Boston. It's close to our hotel, service is warm and friendly, good value for the money, and the good is always good. We often meet our goddaughter (who's attending law school in Boston) there for dinner when we're in town, and even when they're really busy, they never make us feel as though they're rushing us out the door. A friend of mine is traveling to Boston for the first time this week, and I told him he has to go to Charley's.

“Not Impressed”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 12, 2012

I went to Charley's for breakfast with my roommate. The food was decent, but the orange juice was atrocious. I don't mind some pulp, but I'm pretty sure you shouldn't have to chew your orange juice. The service also wasn't very good. The waiter hardly ever came to the table to refill our drinks or see if we needed anything.

“Good food”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed July 5, 2012

We arrived on a Saturday night with a group of 8 after calling ahead. We were told on the phone we would have no problem being seated after 9pm. We did arrive a bit early, so we had to wait outside, with children, for quite some time. The hostess brought out bread for the kids to help hold them over until we were seated, it was much appreciated, since our wait grew longer and longer. During our wait, an inside bathroom visit revealed that there were several empty tables, we had even offered to sit a two separate tables to be seated more quickly, but my guess is that we were forgotten.
Once seated our drink order was taken, and we ordered our entrees quickly. Our drinks must have been overlooked because they only arrived after our appetizer. Dinner arrived after a while, all except for my dinner. Apparently it was forgotten. After a few minutes, the manager(I think) arrived with my entree, and many apologies for the mistake and removed the cost from our bill. The food here is EXCELLENT! Many raves for the fish tacos and fish and chips. And my Filet Mignon was tasty even though it was late.
It is obvious this is a customer centered establishment, and with all of the little mishaps, we would visit again. Maybe just not on a Saturday night ;)

“Great find - excellent food”

Recommended by hotel. Great outdoor seating, food was terrific! Lots of birds outside - can get annoying. Nachos and fish tacos were excellent!! Highly recommend!
