“We love Italian, but not this!”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed July 9, 2010

My wife and I chose Saraceno because it looked cozy and full. There was no room in the main dining area so we walked up steps from the street to a dining room in the adjacent building. It was large, but only had one table occupied. The atmosphere was very nice, and the sound level was low and comfortable for conversation. The service was good. I ordered the gnocchi and my wife ordered the lasagne. My gnocchi was ok, it is a matter of taste, but I didn't like the sauce. The lasagna hardly looked like lasagna, lots of hamburger meet and mozzarella cheese, but little evidence of layers and ricotta cheese. My wife was disappointed. We were charged $9.00 per glass of the house red which seems pricey.

I can't say for sure that it is related, but my wife had had literally nothing to eat but a slice of pizza the whole day (I had the same pizza) and she had symptoms of food poisoning about 1.5 hours after eating. She was sick all night, but ok the next morning. YMMV

“A Gem!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 24, 2010

WOW. This restaurant has the beset seafood risotto I have ever had in my entire life. it was also reasonable for Boston. It is in the heart of the north end which is really close to central Boston. On Hanover street it is very hard to decide where to eat for good local Italian. You really can't go wrong with Saraceno!!!

food was fine...but make reservation and request a table on the first floor...we were seated in the basement and had to walk through several rooms and kitchens to get to our table

“The STOLE money from us!!!”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed November 23, 2009

Food was bad. Service was slow and rude. We left a small tip and vowed never to go here again. When we checked with the bank the next day, we learned that they CHANGED the final amount on the bill to be EXACTLY 20% MORE than what we were originally charged. This is ILLEGAL. This is STEALING. This place will ROB you. DO NOT GO. We are notifying the better business bureau immediately. DO NOT GO HERE.

“"Where's the cheese?"”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2009

Figured i coud not go wrong ordering "home made lasagna" right? wrong!
What I received was ground meat, tomato sauce and some pasta - when I told the server i was disappointed in the fact that there was no ricotta - she insisted that it was layered in between the pasta - it was missing - no where to be found on my plate
The restaurant was "romantic" - nice lighting, classy servers, evrything was great except the food - my husband had the carbonara (fair) my son had the house special - veal chop - which was very tasty ($29.00)
